How much will it cost the Angels to keep him? Speculation is that it will take more than the $43.3MM/year that the Mets are paying Scherzer.
Could he be the first $500M player?

If anyone deserves it I guess it would be him.

I mean, this year he's pretty ordinary with the bat and not gonna win Cy Young either. Can he ever duplicate last year?

A 133 OPS+ is not ordinary. Offense is way down across MLB and he hits in a pitcher's park. And to be able to provide above average starting pitching and tie it into one roster spot is still very valuable.

He's absolutely the rarest of athletes and deserves whatever he gets, but I've never heard Anaheim referred to as a pitchers' park before.

I'll take that back. Even so, he's still got an OPS over 100 points above the league average and hes a starting pitcher. He's been a 2+ WAR player when you combine both.

Yeah he's basically played to around the same level as Freddie Freeman so far this year. But I don't see Freddie going out and trying to pitch every 5 or 6 days.

I can't imagine they'd pass on Devers after the Mookie situation, but who the fuck knows anymore?

I was unfair to say ordinary he's just well off his pace from last year. But you're right offense is down everywhere.
