Also heard a rumor today that has Regehr and Iginla shipped to the Penguins for Malkin...and please remember people it's a rumor.

Known best for his Gonchar to SJS tweet, this one is fantastic. :L

Because THOSE numbers make sense. And yes, trading our 2nd best player to get an aging, although talented, winger makes perfect sense. That and the numbers are way off. Pens have very little room to work with.

It makes sense, though... I mean with Crosby completely healthy and not in any way in a possible long term head injury limbo, they have centers to spare...

I know, right? I mean, we have Mark Freaking Letestu to fill Geno's shoes, right?

Malkin isn't really a second line center IMO. Staal could move up to 2nd line center, I'm sure the pens could easily find someone for the 3rd line.

It's actually very true, and I fully believe that in the LONG run, Geno is the odd man out. Sid's a lifer, and Staal is much more valuable due to his shutdown/versatility. However, this season, and the following few, he's not going anywhere.

Next year's deadline if "inconsistent" continues to be "consistently shitty" as it has for over a year now.

The frustration really stems from the fact that he's clearly one of the most talented guys in the league...and we've seen what he's capable of. If 2007-08 Geno or even 2009 postseason Geno EVER shows up, this team is easy one of the most dominant in the league. But that Geno has only come back in spurts.

If he turns into fucking Kovalev, I will be immensely sad. The worst part about Geno is not just the spurts of amazingness, but the shitty faceoff percentage and ill-advised penalties. Looking at his points, he has 36 in 41 games. NINE of those points came in two games. If he ratchets things up for the playoffs, I don't give a shit if he gets 50 points every regular season, but the fact is, for the last year and a half, that $8.7 million would have been better allocated somewhere else.

People cry foul when he is compared to Crosby, but he makes the same amount of money.

Do I want to trade Malkin? No fucking way. He is the best player in the world on some nights. Problem is those nights have been few and far between ever since he won the Conn Smythe.

A big part of it, IMO, is that he plays with TOO much emotion. Hate to agree with Boudreau, but it's true. If you hit him, or mess with him, even if it means taking a penalty, he'll just hit you back, even it up, and play stupid for at least 20 more minutes. I just remember back to that season where the big debate was: Sid v. Geno. All those people saying "How can Sid be MVP when he's not even the best player on the team?!" Now, there's no question. And while that's good, because Sid has took his game up a dozen notches, it's also sad, because Geno's merely gone down hill. For a player that's supposed to be heading towards his prime, he seems bogged down for some reason.

Yeah, his emotion gets the better of him. He is also extremely protective of Sid, which is nice, but also costs him dumb penalties. What is weird is that I don't see the apathy (like I did with someone like Kovalev), but there is no doubt, he's not what he has been previously. I'm sort of hoping that he's just becoming one of those players who coasts more through the regular season because he doesn't care that much, but I doubt it.

I wish...that'd be no issue. But if so, he skipped a year last postseason. And yes, he has a great relationship with Sid. I am very worried though that he's going to be run out of town like many other players. In fact, the process is already in motion. There are so many uneducated fans out there that so quickly forget what he's ALREADY done for us. And that's horrible. You can complain about what's occurring right now, but as of RIGHT NOW, he hasn't played his way off of this team. There's far too much we already know about his talent to give up on him.

Could the Pens move Malkin? I guess they could, but not for Iggy and Regehr (i.e. they could get more for him, in my opinion).

Definitely would take more. Earliest would be next year's deadline and probably not even then.

Could, yes, however, even WITH Geno's number coming off the books, there's not enough return for the money that the Pens could get that would be a fair trade. Geno's hit is 8.7 million, so we'd have to get a great roster player, a high end prospect, and a pick to even start considering the deal.

IF Geno ever gets moved, it better be out West, because you know he's going to start tearing it up again.

But I think Geno has till the end of next season (at least) to get his shit together before Shero even considers a trade.
