Lewis Brinson, Andrew Knapp, and Dixon Machado have all elected free agency.

There is no reason for them NOT to elect free agency. They can still resign with us if they like.

Per Nightengale:

Giants have no interest in picking up Longo's option
They are "trying to trade" LaStella.

MLB Trade Rumors have also been suggesting that Longoria's option likely won't be picked up. Supposedly, the FO is "interested" in retaining Longoria but not at the cost of his option. I'm going back to the opinion that he retires but he doesn't seem as interested in that option this offseason but he really seemed to prefer finishing his career with the Giants.

I agree. I think he'll be back for $7M on a renegotiated contract.

You think the G’s will make a big point over 1M? I think locking him in and not looking like misers is worth 1M

Here are the projected arbitration numbers that MLB Trade Rumors just published (from Matt Schwartz):

Giants (13)

Apparently, Scott Alexander will NOT be a free agent this offseason. However, BBRef still shows him free agent offseason to be 2023 (which means before the 2023 season).

:noidea:I'm seeing conflicting information on him. We'll see within the next month whether he is a free agent. However, him not being a free agent means even more dfa candidates.
I think he would have been a focus in FA anyway. So I don’t see it as a HUGE DFA needle mover, tbh. If he is Arb-eligible, all it does is guarantee that he will be back rather than just make it possible.

If he is a free agent, I don't think the Giants would be the slam dunk choice. Sure, they do get the advantage of helping him get back to the big leagues. But considering his history, I think he would have had a decent market.

The way I understand his contract is that he gets $5M irrespective. If we were to pick up the option, he'd get $13M. Thus, I think $7M is a fair midpoint. He gets $2M more than the buyout, $6M less than the option.

Only guy I wouldn't take from that list is Shittell, maybe LWJ.

Tristan Beck, Sean Roby, Joey Marciano, and Diego Rincones technically are eligible for the 1st time as well as the R5 draft was canceled last year.
