The Sabres look even better after seeing everything in one report. The Flyers report just made me chuckle at how much they've changed. Still looks great in the long term.

anybody else think the east looks really strong.. aside from winnipeg, ottawa and carolina i dont think anyone will be a pushover

if the isles goaltending holds up they could be a playoff team

the panthers have some quality players/depth up front, if markstrom comes in and plays well, they could be a playoff contender as well

the leafs have some insane size on defense with phanuef, schenn, franson, and komisarek.. if riemer can keep it going they'll be very hard to score on

everyone else i think is pretty easily viewed as a playoff contender at least..

I completely agree.

I think the Rangers are getting more offseason hype than deserved (not even including B-Rich), but they look solid.

I don't think Ottowa looks too bad either.

ya ottawa was a late addition to my non-contender list.. i'm just not sure about them.. alfie is very old.. i've never been a huge believer in spezza and i'm not sure about their young guys

definitely could prove me wrong though.. this conference just looks tough.. every game is going to be a battle

The thing with Ottawa is that they don't really seem to know where to go. They try to win now, but haven't been close in a couple of years. I can see Anderson getting hot and them sneaking into an 8th spot, but that's really it.

That division is just too good right now for them to really gain confidence.

ya i think they've finally gone with a rebuild mode though.. anderson/alfie/spezz will keep them sort of competitive though.. its like they like alfie/spezz too much to go in to a full rebuild.. although i guess spezz is only like 25 right?

they should've traded alfredsson though, if they could've.. his cap hit is super high for limited production (if i remember correctly)

ya i dont know.. they are in kind of a weird situation i think.. they dont have it as easy as some of the other teams that needed a rebuild.. most of those teams were aging all over but still had quality veterans to move for pieces.. the sens dont have that

Overpaying for Gonchar really screwed them. Big cap hit, no demand and aging.

The problem for the Islanders is on the blueline & in goal. Of course if Dipietro is out of the lineup all year the Goaltending will improve BIG TIME.

Word is if the Vote passes today the Isles will make a move, heck they have to make one anyway to reach the floor. My guess is Blake Comeau is headed out of town for a defenseman. Possibly to San Jose, Toronto, Nashville or Vancouver.
