Already seeing Guentzel’s name being tossed around the trade rumor mill.... quite often too

I'd ship him and Rust out. Malkin and Letang. Not all at the same time...but some combo of at least 2. Goodbye Zucker, Reese, Pettersson. No forward under 6 ft if your not a HOF inductee

Contracts are going to make this a hard "flushing of the toilet" almost to the point it will clog, and a miracle plumber will be needed. With that said if somehow Hextall can get rid of, at minimum one of the likes of Letang, Pettersson's or Matheson's contract that is a huge win. Letang and Matheson are useless in their own end and Pettersson might be the weakest defenseman in the league. For someone that big he gets pushed off the puck way too easily.

Anyway if they want to win another cup before Crosby/Malkin retire they will need to find another top producer come play off time.

Last three playoffs:
Crosby 3g 3a 6pts 14GP
Malkin 2g 7a 9pts 12GP

And sadly the way Crosby goes is the way the likes of Rust/Guentzel go come post season -> they have the identical stats as Crosby the last 3 playoffs.

Losing Turbo stings. Going to miss that maniac.

Knew as soon as he wasn't protected that he was as good as gone though.

I didn't think the Kraken would be stupid enough to take him and his contract.

I agree losing him hurts since they have nothing similar, but that contract, age and risk of injury was not that hard a pill to swallow.

Curious though I wonder how they are going to fill in their roster?

I hope Poulin, Legare get a chance and not at the expense of roster filler like Rodrigues and Gaudreau.
Don't get me wrong I don't mind Rodrigues and Gaudreau, but they should truly just be roster filler and not to be overpaid. Then in turn are forced to play too often.

Good riddance
I was reading an article that went on about the Penguins messing up by giving up a 20 goal scorer like McCann.
As soon as I read that comment, I realized it was all garbage for these reasons:
1. He NEVER scored 20 goals.
2. He went over a whole calendar year between scoring goals.
3. He couldn't hit the broadside of a barn 95% of the time.
4. He never scored a goal in the playoffs and disappeared completely all three years.

Seems a few borderline d-men they had retired in Trotman and Weber.

Haven't heard anything but if that is the case I hope something materializes soon so they have that cap space.

Wasn't he hurt, hence why he never really had a chance last season?
