Okay so I'm 0-5 in my almighty quest for Hopslam Ale.The shit is apparently liquid gold. Couple of store ran out in less than an hour, another 2 hours. Spoke with a worker @ a specialty market and he's stashing some in the back next Thursday. Told me to stop in around 2pm.

Any of you guys have this before, is it as good as advertised? At $17+ a sixer stuff better be awesome.

It's good.

Never realized it was such a high demand beer that it'd sellout. You could always just go to Bells. And wade through the sea of yuppies in lovely downtown Kalamazoo.

I prefer Shorts Huma Lupa Licious in the overly hoppy IPA category though. Still a Michigan beer, still not cheap.

its good....you think trying to find it in michigan is hard , try getting your hands on some out of state. damn near impossible. i knew a MSU friend in florida who would have his dad drive down 2 cases every year he visited his grandkids. even thoughi knew it was scare and in high demand i never knew it was $17 a sixer....almost makes me feel bad for finding his hidden ones in the back of his beer fridge.

The corner party store has about 50 6 packs I just walked by. I thought oh yea another micro brew.

Maybe I will swing by a try some of this liquid crack.

I think it's horrible, but I also don't like IPAs much at all. Not into the bitter thing, but to each his own.

It will definitely get you wrecked, though. I think it's 9 or 10 percent a/v, so it gets the job done...

I haven't lost my shit yet, man. Barely hanging on. Threads like this not helping. :L

Good for you!

I really just want to head to Mexican Village in Detroit drink authentic Margaritas, no pussy slushies, and have some fresh warm salty nachos chips and salsa. Shit tears me up and I feel like shit in the morning.

I know it but it is so hard not to say fuck it. It's like my body is telling me enough is enough.

There's a gas station out on 32 and Romeo Plank that has a giant wall of rare beers and they let you mix and match your own sixer. Pretty great. I'll check to see if they have this stuff there.

I love those stores. Get to basically make your own craft beer sampler every time...

I'm not close enough to Kzoo but maybe one of these days I'll stop in when I'm out.

Huma is the shit and probably my favorite IPA. Like I said I just want to try it, I've had the Imperial IPA (10%ABV) before and really didn't care for it. I like sticking around the 7-8% range.

Yeah, there all over the place in the Detroit Area, the markets (Joe's produce, Hillars, etc) usually have the best selection.

It's a real cool spot in the summer. The Beer Garden is a great place on a nice day. Definitely worth stopping in if you're on your way to Chicago or whatever.

Im not big on the Imperial either. Two Hearted, by far is my favorite IPA and beer in general from Bells. And probably from anywhere.

Pardon the intrusion on yall's board, but I also would like to profess my fondness for that particular beer.

We can find it in NY but it's a huge seller over here right now. My niece and nephew in Brooklyn know a place near them that stocks it and they always pick me up a sixer. I generally like dark ales and porters but I have found Hopslam to not be so medicinal like most other hopbombs.

One of these years I'm going to make tour of Michigan Breweries starting with Bells, up through Founders, Brewery Vivant, Shorts, etc.

Bells and Shorts both have great brewpubs. (Shorts up by Torch Lake is a good excuse to go to Torch Lake hahaha.). But neither really do their brewing on site. Kalamazoo Brewing Company (Bells) actually moved to a big facility east of town in Comstock. And Shorts is a few miles away too. Not sure if you have to schedule tours or not. (Larry Bell and Joe Short, both Broncos.)
Arcadia has a nice brewpub in downtown Battle Creek. And just opened another right by Bells in Kzoo. (Haven't been yet.) Founders is freakin great!

Mt. Town Station in Mt. Pleasant is worth a stop too. Their "Train Wreck" has really been growin' on me.
Tried to eat dinner at the brewery in Frankenmuth yesterday, wait was too long though. That's a cool spot with a few nice under the radar beers.

Theres a brewery in the State Park at Tahquamenom Falls now too. Long drive for a beer, but they do a nice job.
