TG said both were deflected, but I wasn't home to watch the game. he said marty cheated off his post on the 5v3.

Did you mean too when you typed two? If not, I've always been on the fire Mac side. But you and I will never see eye to eye when it comes to Marty

It's just his way to ignore the fact that Ilya is on pace to score 18g, 41pts, with a -41.

But of course there are a long list of reasons including, Maclean, Brodeur, Lou, Elias, Langenbrunner, Jesus, Stalin, etc, etc that are responsible for that.

Obviously, Marty isn't helping this team at all right now either, but blaming him for the offense is BS.

Yea, the goaltending isnt must of a problem, its mostly the lack of scoring followed by poor defense.

your right last night was the perfect example of poor defense! on 2 wrist shots from outside the circles! poor defense!

as for the offense nope i dont blame them for last night its kinda tough to get motivated and going when 1. your coach sucks 2. your goalie is giving in fluke goal after fluke goal!

Maybe Marty is cracking under the pressure of thinking he needs to pitch a shutout for the team to win.

We're both wrong anyway, because this team isn't going to win on the back of one player.

Not saying Marty should take more blame exactly but, Goaltending is the most important position.

Goaltending is the most obvious position to put blame on because it is easy to see when a mistake is done because there is a consequence...a goal. Other positions still have 4 other players and the goalie to possibly bail them out.
Yes goaltending is important but hockey is a team sport and not one position can do it all!

This argument is garbage if we score ZERO goals. Last time I checked no team has ever won a game without putting at least one puck in the net. One > zero, however if that has changed, you let me know.

listen like i said i'd put more blame on the offense if the two goals the bruins scored where absolute garbage! how would you respond? now if the bruins goals were legit hard fought goals then yeah i'd get a little on the offense.

what i find funny? people blame the defense how bad they are and all that..ok but WHAT IF the devils had this type of defense for the duration of martys career? what type of numbers do you think he would put up?

If the team responds by quitting, then fuck them.

I would take Caps as an example in last season. They had issues with goaltending, but were able to come out with scoring more goals than allowed. They had plenty of games won 6-5, 5-4, etc. If it is not working from goalie's side, then we need to start scoring, which would/should inspire and motivate our goalies. At least one thing has to be improved and it will start positive chain reaction.

You do realize that Marty had some of the best save percentages of his career post lockout?

Facts have no place in this conversation MCD.

We are not talking what Marty had. What is important that what he has now and how much of it left in him. These days we have reasons to doubt his capabilities based on his current performance. It was suppose to happen at some point of time (with anybody) and unfortunately it looks like that this time came now - but I hope it is not, at least till end of the season.
