The Wrap/Recap....

The Box....

The Pics....

Trainer's Room....
Eight days after straining his hamstring in a Sept. 4 game against the Nationals, Mets OF Brandon Nimmo was running at around 90 percent, sprinting half-moons around the lip of the outfield grass, playing catch, shagging fly balls and taking full batting practice on the field, which included a home run to the batter’s eye in straightaway center field at Citi Field. The activity marked a rapid progression for Nimmo, whom the Mets feared lost for the season once he injured his hamstring. Now, Nimmo is hopeful he can come off the injured list perhaps when first eligible on Wednesday, or at least during the Mets’ weekend series against the Phillies beginning on Friday. “I know I’ve definitely surprised them,” Nimmo said. “Things have been going really, really well.” (Last updated: Sept. 12)

Up Next....

Mets LHP Rich Hill
(0-2, 3.70 ERA) will start the 1st of a 3 game set at home for NY against St. Louis beginning on Monday.
RHP Adam Wainwright (15-7, 2.99) is scheduled to be on mound for The Cardinals.

Basically every team we're chasing is on our schedule. Season is in our own hands, let's see if this team is half as good as they seem to think they are. LGM

Well right now we're down 2-0 heading to the 4th.
Cards seem to be wanting it more so far.

3-0 now.

My goodness....Hill has been a huge disappointment since he landed here.
The offensive woes and the bats going dormant again notwithstanding.

It's a conundrum wrapped around a mystery and placed inside an enigma.

Yikes....

Mets half of the 8th inning.

:L

Lindor leadoff walk
Conforto single.
Lindor hustles to 3rd.
Mets had runners at the corners with no outs.

But then....
Alonso whiffed
Baez whiffed
McNeil K'd on a foul tip with 2 strikes.

:tsk:

Onto the 9th.
3-0 game....not the Mets.

Good night...Thanks for coming....Drive safe.

Now see...that's how you cash in with runners at the corners with only 1 out.

4-0 Cards.

edit:
and now it's 5-0...with the bases full of redbirds.

Man o man.

6-0 now....bases still full.

I really hope Rojas & Hefner are not brought back for 2022.
Or that what's his name hitting coach either.

Mets fall flat on Monday night after an emotional must win victory over the Yankees the previous night...

Final: 7-0 Cardinals.

Trainer's Room..

Mets C Tomas Nido (left thumb) joined the Mets for batting practice after playing back-to-back games for Triple-A Syracuse and could be activated Tuesday. … OF Brandon Nimmo (right hamstring) took batting practice. … RHP Noah Syndergaard (Tommy John surgery) had a touch-and-feel bullpen and could throw batting practice this week — his first time facing hitters since his rehab progression was shut down when he tested positive for COVID-19.

Up Next..

Mets RHP Marcus Stroman (9-12, 2.87) is slated to make his major league-leading 31st start for NY on Tuesday in the middle game of the series. Cardinals RHP Jake Woodford (2-3, 4.38 ERA) is scheduled to go for St. Louis.

Mets up 3-2 after 6.
Conforto has 2 rbi's.
Stro was at 89 pitches..but I thought he had another inning in him..and would've brought him back.
That said...let's see how Aaron Loup navigates the 7th.

Edit:

Wow!
Loup made real quick work of it with a 1-2-3 inning on just 7 pitches. (1K)
All 3 were RH hitters.

Stretch time.
3-2 Mets.
