Mets were up a run before RojASS put Familia in instead of Lugo for the top of the 8th.....
......now we're down a run heading to the bottom of the 8th.
4-3.

All the other teams we need to lose are currently losing or have already lost earlier.

edit:
Mets go down 1-2-3 in the 8th.

Edwin Diaz now in for the top of the 9th.

Final in 11:
Cards 7 - Mets 6

Another day wasted....when we could've gained a game on all the teams we're chasing for the WC, and in the division.
We had the possible winning run on 3B with only 1out in the 10th, but failed to bring it home.

Mets give away another game they should've won...and probably would've won if not for some boneheaded moves by that shrugging fool in the Mets dugout....who will now likely take the postgame podium soon to say how the Mets "kept fighting", and "how they need to stay focused more"....LOL...but not take one iota of blame himself for being the main culprit in this team's disappointing downturn over the last 6 weeks because of his mediocre leadership and poorly planned out strategies from game to game where he routinely gets out managed easily.
Some of that blame also goes to certain players who continue to perform at a lackluster level.

Also, I'd like to know why Albert Almora is on this team instead of Khalil Lee?

And...Jeff McNeil is hurt from what I'm seeing and should be on the bench for at least the next 5-6 games.
Dom Smith for whatever reason isn't effective as a PH off the bench when he isn't starting in the outfield.
He needs to get back to playing LF at least every other day.

And there you have it...

"Arm care"

LOL/SHM

:tsk:

Just pure clusterfuckery and more unnecessary nonsense.

Cohen should've dumped RojAss & Hefner in late July....and Alderson too for that matter.
And now hopefully he will do just that at season's end, after the fact.

LOL...37 pitches and 5 runs allowed in the 1st inning for Tylor Megill.

Pretty sure it's safe to say the Cards wanted this series much more....and it shows.

RojAss can only shrug....because he's an idiot.

Mets have put up single runs in the 2nd & 3rd...but now in the 4th it looks like Megill is pulling another 1st inning face plant.
He gave up a leadoff HR then a double & single, runners at the corners, still no outs....

6-2.

Now Miguel Castro has been summoned from the BP.

Lousy effort by Megill no matter how you slice, dice or spin it.

Yeah...keeping Lugo from pitching in last night's game because of "arm care" really paid off by putting him in tonight's game.

That rest really helped as he gave up 2 runs in this one to make an 8 - 3 game in the 7th.

Mets put up another meaningless run in the bottom half.....on a McNeil triple and a Peraza PH rbi knock.

17 runners left on base by the local 9 so far in this one. Seventeen.

8-4 Cards.
Onto the 8th.

If I were Steve Cohen, I'd definitely fire Rojas & Hefner, & the (what's his name ) hitting coach before the end of the season..and maybe even before this weekend.

There's no dignity, and they certainly don't need nor deserve any.

So why even wait at this point?

Swept..

Dumb move by Cohen to bring Sandy A. back...imho..

Moves..

Mets CF Brandon Nimmo is expected back from the injured list Friday night against Philadelphia, two weeks after straining his right hamstring. ... Noah Syndergaard threw about 15-20 pitches to Nimmo and might have another live batting practice session before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. Syndergaard was a touch below the mid-90s (mph) with his fastball, manager Luis Rojas said, but wasn't going "full tilt." The right-hander has been slowed in his recovery from March 2020 Tommy John surgery by a sore elbow and a positive COVID-19 test. He hopes to return in a relief role before the season ends. ... Reserve infielder José Peraza was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Peraza had been out since July 20 with a fractured middle finger on his right hand. OF Albert Almora Jr. was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

Up Next..

Mets RHP Taijuan Walker (7-9, 4.29 ERA) pitches Friday night at Citi Field against ex-Met Zack Wheeler (13-9, 2.86) and the Phillies in the opener of a 3 game series.

Just 15 games remaining.
Maybe it's time the Mets started to play the spoiler too.
5.5 games back in the NL east.....and 5 back for a wildcard berth.
We are clinging mathematically to any hopes for a shot at a postseason spot.
If anything else, another goal would be to finish at .500...meaning we'll have to go 9-6 to do so.
Laugh all you want, but there's still an avenue for us...but it'll take a miracle & some help from other teams.

9/17-19
Phillies @ Mets
