Numbers on the front of helmets?

Apparently, this is a league wide mandate for all players to have their numbers pasted on to the front/top of their helmets (this comes from the Wild equipment manager)

I think Borje Salming was the first to do this as far as the NHL is concerned...

This just made me think of the University of Michigan unis. I like the style, but don't think it'll work for all uniforms.
