WIN Nebraska 42-28 I am flipping the score from last year

Players to Watch

RB/WR Rondale Moore - star
TE Brycen Hopkins

LB Markus Bailey

Position Comparisons

OL Nebraska
QB Nebraska
RB tie
TE Purdue
WR Purdue they have Rondale Moore

DL Nebraska
LB tie Mohamed Barry vs Markus Bailey makes it a tie
CB Nebraska
Safeties tie

Kicking game - Nebraska
Punting - Nebraska

Purdue lost their starting QB, Blough(gave Nebraska fits), two starting receivers, their starting RB, and three starters on the OL. I do not think Elijah Sindelar is going to beat you with his feet like Blough did
against Nebraska.

I think freshman Purdue WR David Bell was looking at Nebraska but chose Purdue.

Purdue's defense was not stellar last year, and most of the defense returns. The defense gave up
31, 40, 36, 41, 47, and 63 points.

The weird thing is Purdue beat Ohio State and Iowa and almost beat Wisconsin.

I have been to two Purdue games, and their fan support is not good. Home crowd will not be a factor. There could be just as many Nebraska fans as Purdue fans.

We know Rondale Moore is a proven commodity, will Wandale answer the matchup?

How did Rondale Moore choose Purdue? He went to the same high school the Brohm's attended and where dad and the Brohm's coached. He has known the Brohm's a long, long time.

Your call's looking real god.

Nevada just beat Purdue 34-31 on a 56 yd walk off FG.

Rondale Moore was not a big factor in the game.

Rushing: 2 carries for 3 yds
Receiving: 11 for 124 yds, 1 TD (long 39)
Kick returns: 2 for 25 yds
Punt returns: 3 for 28 yds

Purdue's a one trick pony and finishing last season (2-4) after that Ohio St upset tells the tale.

Counting tonight they are (2-5) in there last 7 games.

Purdue against Nevada

Purdue was one of a few teams to start a new QB in the B1G. Purdue lost.

Sindelar played well, or else Nevada has no pass defense. I am leaning on no pass defense.

Purdue had no run game.

Still, this game has now been relegated to coin flip based on the utter crap the Nebraska offense showed. The Nebraska offensive line, looks very offensive. If Jurgens starts at center against Colorado(i expect him to because Frost put all his money on him) and Jurgens snaps it over Adrian's head(I expect Cam to do that also) the season is going to be very bad. Farniok has to start at center soon. or anyone but Jurgens. If Jurgens is truly the best center because of explosiveness, the season is over.

Amazing how one game can change an outlook.

If the Nebraska stuff were things like penalties and turnovers sloppiness, one can see it as just 'first game' and can get cleaned up.

However, this is mano-a-mano type stuff and it is not fixed in days or weeks. That is a January - August process.

Huskers will either win or lose this game. I'm not comfortable going any farther out on the limb.

A complete coin flip game.

The bright side, Nebraska has a true freshman QB, a true freshman Wandale Robinson, and a redshirt center in Cam Jurgens. Jurgens snapped way better against Indiana than in any other game I have seen. Encouraging.

Bad news, no freshmen were able to unplant any of the defensive starters. Not sure if this is because the defense has not recruited talent or what. But I am not impressed with the defensive coaching staff and what they are teaching or not teaching or whatever it is they do for a paycheck.

More bad news, the entire offensive line is coming back intact. I believe they are all Riley and Cavanaugh recruits except for Jurgens.

Normally, I would predict Nebraska to beat Purdue even after what I have watched this season, but something is wrong with the team somewhere. Nebraska could beat Purdue and Purdue could beat Nebraska. It all depends on which team decides to quit and allows the other team to win by default.

Yeah, coin flip.

Probably come down to your typical penalties, turnovers, and special teams.

Penalties Per Game

Nebraska: 70th (6.38 per game)
Purdue: 9th (4.63 per game)

Fewest Penalty Yds Per Game

Nebraska: 54th (52.75 Yds per game)
Purdue: 6th (38 Yds per game)

Turnover Margin

Nebraska: 100th (-.50)
Purdue: 122nd (-1.0)

Punt Returns

Nebraska: 53rd (8.92)
Purdue: 90th (5.58)

Kickoff Returns

Nebraska: 70th (20.46)
Purdue: 123rd (16.04)

Is Moore going to play? I don't care if their 2 QBs are mediocre, they have receiving threats that will be open and make big plays. If our D doesn't gain some attitude ( and not bad attitude like the Davises keep bringing) we will be in another game just like Indiana.

Your guess is as good as anybody's. Hamstring's are nagging injuries. I missed a month of football on a hamstring. Things felt fine jogging or walking around, but when I'd sprint that sucker would lock up.

Last week's update....

"When asked about the availability of Purdue sophomore WR Rondale Moore (hamstring), HC Jeff Brohm said "No. Rondale probably will not go".
Moore (5'9/180) should be considered out this week unless convincing evidence surfaces to the contrary. Moore has not played since Purdue's 38-31 loss to Minnesota on September 28th. In his absence freshman David Bell has thrived with 22 catches for 335 yards and three touchdowns over the past two games. The Boilermakers welcome Illinois to town this Saturday, so Moore will hope to be back Week 10 vs. Nebraska.
