Why?

I was watching the Lakers game last night and was hit by a major epiphany. Kent Bazemore matched his career high (which he just previously set a few days prior) of 23 points against the Pelicans. At first thought, I was happy to see him be productive. My second thought was "Maybe he didn't get a fair chance with the Warriors?". My third thought was "I need another beer", followed by my fourth thought "he's just a looter in a riot."

I remember Kenny Smith use this term a few weeks back during the Warriors game. He wanted to see if Jordan Crawford was the real deal or if he was simply a "looter in a riot". The concept is simple: Is this player a good player who can contribute on a winning team or are they just another guy with empty numbers?

Last night watching Bazemore's performance reminded me of how many games I watched Corey Maggette drive to the basket and pray for a foul. It reminded me of how many times I saw John Starks and Larry Hughes jack up shot after shot. Watching Antawn Jamison go for 50 in back to back games and believe he was a franchise player. Watching Brian Cardinal, Earl Boykins, Marc Jackson (not our coach TT) put up huge stats to only get us another L.

Flash forward to today. The Warriors have a winning team. They have winning players. They have guys who are invested and have high expectations. I will have my frustrations going forward but I'm just gonna enjoy the ride from here on out.

Bazemore was used wrong as in, he's not a PG he needs to play off the ball. I also agree with you I'm enjoying everything about the warriors team this year

Me too, but I'll consider the season a failure if they don't make the playoffs though.

Great post CitySushi!

I think ofter we forget where this team was a couple years ago.
I also remember thinking some of those guys were franchise players
and how lucky we were to get them like Larry Hughes, Jamison and
Webber, only to find out that we still sucked lol.

Still got love for the team. My efforts to not complain has been overall successful. Not many things to gripe about right now team-wise. Just have to see where the chips fall.

Bump.

BLake didn't play in game 6, how's that for adjustments Sushi? Jackson had an undermanned team keep Flop City to 36.8% from the field. and 11-35 from 3pt land. Seemed like he had the team playing hard to the very last minute last night.

Folks want to say he's not the greatest X's and O's coach, but how have the X's and O'x helped Malone out in Sactown?

Its funny to me how when the Dubs loses, folks want to blame Jackson, but when they win, there's no one around to give praise and say "good job". Where's the love?

I think you have me confused with a "Jackson hater". My stance has always been that I disagree with his coaching tactics, and IF an upgrade could be had, it should be explored. He has not done anything to warrant dismissal. The mantra of the Warriors organization now is that any upgrade must be explored and that does not just apply to the roster...it applies to everyone from the coaching staff to the front office.

Now, I've always praised Jackson after he's done well. For example if you go to the thread for game 4, I wrote what adjustments I thought he made and how they worked out incredibly well. I can't speak for the rest of the group of Jackson pessimists, but I normally don't post until the next day. I always give Jackson credit for when I believe he was integral to the success of the team, which I did at length in the game 4 thread.

I've been saying that the Warriors need to hard double Blake every time he touches the ball. They did that last night and it worked out very well in their favor. I've also said Jackson needed to tighten the rotation which he did yesterday too. They also did a lot more small to small pick and rolls, which worked incredibly well also.

I'm still very positive about the direction of the organization. Jackson is still only a 3rd year coach...ever. That's the extent of his experience. It's not unreasonable to think that he can get better, and he, along with the players must show improvement. That's why I believe having assistants who can provide insight and are not just yes men are integral to the team, and Jackson's success.

My view has never wavered. I think Jackson has his flaws as a coach, but he hasn't done anything that should suggest he should be removed for the sake of being removed. Better coaching options should be explored, but a lateral move or bringing in a new coach are not good ideas.

Sushi,

Most of that wasn't directed at your specifically, just the shortsighted folks who want Jackson to go just to change things up. Its the shortsightedness that I don't understand, its the same folks who wanted Mariucci gone because he didn't "win enough".

Folks always love the backup QB, Malone was a great assistant, but did the sky fall after he left to Sactown? How's Sactown doing in the playoffs? Wait a minute, that's right, they didn't make it. The grass isn't always greener, that's what my point is.

I love the run the Dubs are on, and if they win Sat, I hope the same folks calling for Jackson's head, will come back to the board and apologize.

Win or lose, I feel the team has played their tails off in the playoffs with their limited roster. Can't ask for anymore than that.

FWIW, I hated the Mooch firing. Said so at the time, and maintain it now: it set the franchise back about a decade.

Similarly, I don't think they should fire Jax just to make a change. They should upgrade the position as they should PF.

If you want to see the team actually get better, Jax has to be upgraded.

The Warriors had a great season. After game 7, I wasn't nearly as disappointed as I thought I would be. The Warriors left it all out on the court and gave it everything they had.

Overall very good season. If Bogut was healthy, I think we could have really made some noise. Looking forward to next season already.
