I think at this point it is to not give one team an extra advantage that otherwise they would not have with a Thursday night game and getting say 10 days off and almost an extra bye week. This at least makes teams have to play 2 straight weeks like a normal schedule to try and make things even.

Yep, that sucked. The wife and I bbq'd some steaks, sat down and turned on the NFL Network and we're like, "WTF????". We are getting to the part of the year I hate sports wise....no football or baseball.

Football season is way too short. It seems like just yesterday I was getting amped up for College Gameday and Fox Sports Sunday with Howie and the boys.....now, it is starting to feel like a nuclear wasteland.

yep, i noticed this a few days ago when looking at the games for the week. i suppose at this point in the season, it's the right thing to do. all teams need to get on the same schedule/same amount of rest heading into the playoffs.

I can understand no thursday on the last week... Although, it should be flex scheduling... But wasnt it tradition that after college football ended that we get at least one saturday game?? How about the fact we dont even get a christmas game this season!!!

I understand the Saturday thing. The Christmas thing though would be impossible to do with it being on a Wednesday this year. It is too quick of a turnaround from Sunday plus like I stated above then would provide those two teams with a glorified bye week right before the playoffs that the other 30 teams would not get.

Why does it have to be a playoff team to play... we just want football... Its ok if it is tennessee vs the texans...

For a game like that though they would most likely have to have it planned at the beginning of the season and there is no telling what teams will or won't make the playoffs that year. Look at the Chiefs this year going from worst to tied for best record in the AFC right now.

Plus like I said the whole Wednesday thing is kind of an issue. Players would revolt as they already have said they hate Thursday night games.

The schedule can be flexible though... I am really arguing for saturday games now, i can definitely understand the argument against the wednesday night christmas game- although if you make a saturday game and then a wednesday game, there would be no difference than a sunday then thursday...

For example- this week there would be 3 saturday games, then christmas day 2 of the teams that played on saturday would play the christmas game...

I definitely agree with you on the Saturday games makes the most sense and honestly I would just have that replace the Thursday night game. Again though this late in the season teams would want to know in advance more than just a week or two that they would be playing on those Saturday games so they can prepare in advance of how they would handle that. Plus you can't really do that the final week as then that could possibly give one team an advantage over another come playoff time so I guess they could flex that final week teams that stand no playoff shot to the Saturday game on the final week but no playoff teams could have that.

Again all of this comes down to the NFL wants the final couple of weeks of the season to help even out the playing field for the playoffs so no one team can get an extra advantage over another beyond earning a 1st round bye.
