St. Louis signed Cheechoo to a 2way contract... Didnt see anyone mention it... Damn, I was still living in the dream that he would one day return to glory in a SJ sweater, but ehh alas, another dream destroyed :(

Good luck in StL!

(Still think Dwil shoulda gone with a Nolan, Cheech, Korolyuk 3rd line haha - im kidding, dreaming, but kidding)

Yeah, i was too upset to post anything. Doug must have no heart, if he's not willing to give Cheech or Nolan a shot on this roster.

ohwell, good luck Cheech

You're like 10 pounds of fail in a 5 pound bag.

I forgot, Mcginn, Fairy-Oh, McClaren>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nolan

I personally am hoping for a fuck you DWil check out this awesome season from Seto, Heatley & now Cheech... Heatley had 1 off year (which he was still 3rd leading goal scorer & 9pts outa the leading scorer spot) and everyone in SJ spazzes out and says he's a waste, washed up, going downhill fast, trade him or a bag of pucks etc etc etc...

I was speaking to the other clown on these boards who implied Doug never gave Cheech a chance. You're giving him a run for his stupid though. Carry on.

You're right Likewall. His career trend is definitely on the upswing the past 6 years and he had two terrific playoffs as well.....not to mention a wonderful cap hit.

The problem I had with Heatley was he was too one dimentional for his paycheck and just never seemed to fit in with the Sharks current make up. Despite his poor showing last season he's one of the best goal scores in the league but his inability to skate, forecheck effectively, or play the puck control game, as well as being poor in his own zone, made him more a liability to the line-up than an asset. With the Wild they have guys better suited than the Sharks were to cover for Heatley's shortcomings.

Although he's getting paid to score, I thought these past playoffs he played well in both ends from the games I saw. He was injuried and still kept playing hard, and he took a fucking beating on some checks too and got right back up. What was it? A broken hand? Thats gonna cause your puck control & scoring to take a hit.

As to the other poster with the comment bout his career declining the past years, this decline is still good enough to be a top 3 scorer on the teams each year and only a few pts out of top scorer. Also 82-72-82-64 doesnt look to me like much of a decline. Looks more like a a bad year with injuries. The only reason I like the trade is the cap hit, but still didnt want to see him go, espicially since that extra money didnt seem to go to getting 3rd liners yet.

I dont think the sharks will finish with as good a record as last season with the additions/subtractions. I just have a feeling SJ will play like chicago did last season with there good D but only 2 lines that can score.

And since its on a Cheechoo topic, I dont think it woulda killed Dwil so resign cheech and gave him a shot on the bottom lines. LOL I mean look who we have down there? He may be slow, but most teams dont have speed through all 4 lines.

lol, he played well in both ends? What games were you watching? He was terrible in the offensive zone and was passable on defense (which I'll give him some credit for). If you want to pay a 2nd liner $7.5million who is not getting any faster on a league built for speed than so be it. You talk about top 3 scorers on each team, but look who his linemates were? I mean Spezza, Alfredsson, Marleau and Thornton as linemates ain't too bad right? Not to mention he's a one trick pony. He's become a $7.5million PP specialist.

Also, if Cheechoo is the difference maker between the Sharks as they are now and being a Cup winner, than color me shocked. Why don't we bring back Jeff fucking Friesen as well?

To Heatley's credit it was obvious he was working on and trying to get better in his own zone but even with the extra effort his play in that area was still very poor.

Did he have a broken hand his entire time with San Jose? At no point when he was with the team did he show he could be an asset to a puck control system. The broken hand effected his regular season scoring this year for sure but it was supposedly completely healed by the time the PO's rolled around.

Who's to say Wilson didn't offer Cheechoo a chance? It could be that Cheech felt he had a better chance to make it back to the NHL on forward thin St. Louis squad than he did in San Jose.

Never said he's be the difference maker did I? But it wouldnt hurt to give him a shot & maybe have someone that can score down there, weather its 10 goal or not, thatd be bout the season total for the 3rd line combined... And they already tried bringing Friesen back like 2 years ago, he didnt make it past tryouts.

Its a vicious circle with this team. couple years ago they needed a 3rd line, then they got it (a damn good one too) and lost D, then they went and got D, and gave away there 3rd line. There were ways to aquire D without giving subtracting a good 3rd line, SJ just chose to go a different player costly route.

The team couldve had a 3rd line & solid D by doing the heatley/havlett trade to free up $$$$. Instead come next year they could be back to no D & no 3rd line if Mr Burns doesnt resign

Nolan burned too many bridges and I doubt they would ever bring him back. He treated the younger guys on the team like shit when he was here, and I'm sure management knew about that. Most of the guys on the team couldn't stand the guy, and I heard that from a former player that I would definitely trust.

If Nolan were good enough to be playing in the NHL he would be. Bringing him or Cheechoo in would not help this team to win a cup. I know fans like former Sharks players but no to both.
