Just so I'm clear, by your logic... Team A loses to #1 and #2 goes 5-1 and beats #3-7 should not be ranked but Team B goes 5-1 against 6 teams that all have losing records deserves to be ranked.... and people wonder why we fought to get a playoff.

Teams play harder schedules than others.

If a team plays #1 Alabama and #2 Clemson (like Texas A&M has done) is that comparable to an undefeated team like Appalachian State who has played a bunch of teams that Texas A&M would have easily defeated.

Doing a top 25 based on record alone is a terrible way to rank teams.
