Well, if this team is anything about backing-up what they have been talking about from the re-start, then we will see it on the field. Otherwise we have all seen this dog and pony road show before.

Well, apparently these players don't like being embarrassed. WE get back after it, or so it seems, against the Blue Jays.

Technically, all is not lost. Say Phils take 2 of three in TB, they finish 30-30. Could happen with super stars Vinnie, Wheeler, and Nola. :D

SF (27-27) is at home with 2 vs COL and then 4 vs SD, one a split DH. They could go 2-4 and finish 27-31. If they go 3-3 for 30-30, I'm not sure about the tiebreaker.

MIA (28-28) has one vs ATL then 3 at the Yankees. They could go 1-3 and finish 29-31. If they go 2-2, for 30-30, I'm not sure about the tiebreaker.

No end to my fantasies!

Marlins 29-28 just beat Braves. Need Yanks to kick their butts. At least Giants 28-28 split with Rockies. Need Pads to kick ass in SF.

While you're drinking, consider:
  • If the Phillies go 0-2, 28-32 overall, they’re done.
  • If the Phillies go 1-1, 29-31 overall, they’ll need the Giants to lose both games to San Diego and the Brewers to win no more than one of their final two games against St. Louis. All three teams would finish with the same record and the Phillies would win the tiebreaker based on having a better divisional record than the Brewers and Giants.
  • If the Phillies go 2-0, 30-30 overall, they’re a playoff team if the Giants lose at least one of their next two games. It won’t matter what the Brewers do.
What needs to happen for the Phillies to make the playoffs?

What are you naming the roster to convince yourself we have players that actually care about winning a championship? Or are you trying to convince yourself jvett, that we have even a modicum of talent to compete for anything significant in any given post-season, given that the dildoes/melties even get there? Just curious...

Well, retro, I’m being both a little sarcastic and real about why they’re actually not in the playoffs. The names in the first list cannot really be considered a group of lazy players solely interested in collecting a paycheck. Look at Segura tearing down the line to beat out infield hits or the intensity of Harper at the plate. Those guys are proven talented professionals who want to win.

Unfortunately, their efforts are mostly sabatoged by the totally incompetent relief pitching and a few starters in my second list. Earlier in another thread I said your skepticism proved correct and that you were right but my assessment was that the FO again had still not built a team wholly capable of going deep in the playoffs and you recognized that.

I happened to be watching the Red-Braves game right now, 0-0 in the 13th. Great pitching, something we don't get treated to in Phillies games. I don't even want to think about next year.. Let's see, Nola, Wheeler, Eickhoff, Velasquez, Eflin. I'm getting depressed.:laugh3:
