Gross. Swept by the Pirates. They’ve lost 9 of their last 10
It's amazing how bad the "Daycare" bunch has been. When you think about it, they've pretty much hit on every big name free agent they signed recently. Harper and Wheeler are easily the best 2 FAs they've ever had. Turner's contract will not age well but he's still a good player now. Schwarber has been great. Luzardo is solid. But that core group of "youngsters" (not that young any more), Stott, Bohm, Marsh/Rojas can't manage an OPS of even .700. It's sad when you're actually happy to see a career backup like Sosa in the lineup because you know he's probably going to do as well or better offensively than whoever he is replacing.

I'd say Marsh's regression has had one of the biggest effects on the Phillies. Unfortunately I think Stott's 2023 might have been an outlier

Realmuto's had a disappointing year so far, but at least his Statcast data is encouraging (.320 xwOBA versus .287 wOBA)

Stott is the guy I had pegged to be much better based on his minor league numbers but you're right, he's only had one decent year offensively. So maybe it was an outlier.

I think the problem is Dumbrowksi. The Phillies have had the same issues since 2022. They have 2 black holes in the outfield. They have an unreliable pen. These things have been left unaddressed.

This team needs too much. I don’t want to part with anybody decent unless the Phils can’t sign them. That means I’m good trading Bohm or Ranger Suarez. No need to trade Painter, Aidan Miller, Mick Abel, Crawford, Edmundo Tait, etc…. To what end? The squad needs too much. It looks like Harper and Nola injuries are going to keep them out considerable time. They have enough to win 85-92 games and make the playoffs. Then it comes down to being hot at the right time.

I liked him as a prospect, but he's consistently had xwOBAs in the low .300s. He doesn't K that often, but he just doesn't hit the ball hard enough. I don't think he's a bad player, but he just looks like a consistent 2 WAR guy

That’s the story for Bohm, Marsh, and Stott. No slug from any of them. Essentially a bunch of singles hitters.

One thing I can say about the Dombrowski era that was good for the Sox was that he chose the right prospects to part with versus what he held onto. I'd say his worst few trades were the ones for relievers like Carson Smith and Tyler Thornburg, who just couldn't stay healthy. But as far as the Sale/Kimbrel trades go, the Sox did quite well. Even the Pomeranz trade went well, the Sox got a good year out of him and Espinoza flamed out after various injuries. His trade history with the Tigers was for the most part excellent
