hartnell was pretty close to knocking off malkin if the tweets a couple days prior weren't misleading me

On the Islanders fansite people are voting constantly. I can honestly say I haven't voted. Michael Grabner has made this a big deal on twitter. He wants to see JT on the cover.LOL

I hate this vote, just because I can guarantee you 100% that Giroux would be the cover boy.

Stamkos was on the cover last year & he played great. I don't see it as a bad thing.

For some reason Isles fans think JT would have a better chance against Malkin so they're voting for him over Giroux. I guess they figure JT would get the Canadian vote.LOL

ya the flyers twitter primarily, but also hartnell, are tweeting a lot about it too.. and now that hartnell is out he's repping giroux

i might've voted twice, but the mobile way of voting didnt seem to be working really, so it might not have counted.. i could only vote on hartnell/malkin

Us Wings fans have jobs and lives and such, no time to spend voting for a video game cover.

I forgot the 2nd part of my post. :L I hate the vote because Giroux has the potential of losing. If there was not a vote, he would just have the cover handed to him.

And that is pretty smart by Isles fans if true. Kinda amazed Subban didnt move far though.

Isn't the NHL13 cover a curse? (much like Madden) - Not sure if JT wants to be on the cover, his career is progressing along nicely.

I think it was broke when Kane and Toews went on and shortly thereafter won the cup.

I don't really know how all the other NHL13 covers have gone. Did they make a game back in 1913? What did they play it on, the abacus? I'm pretty sure the 1813 one would have been on a sundial.

I don't hate it as much as the TSN Play of the Year vote. Geno's goal against the Lightning lost to a Ennis goal that wasn't even remotely close. I guess it doesn't *really* matter anyway.

This. Pretty much all it means is the athlete gets a money boost for appearing on the cover.

Not to the extent of the Madden Curse or anything:

1997: John Vanbiesbrouck has a strong year and the Panthers get home-ice in the playoffs.

1998: Peter Forsberg finishes second in league scoring despite missing 10 games.

1999: Eric Lindros puts up 40 goals and has his third-highest scoring season.

2000: Chris Pronger wins the Hart Trophy.

2001: Owen Nolan is the first to have a so-so year, falling back to his normal rate of production after a spike in play the previous year.

2002: Mario Lemieux wins the Gold Medal in the Olympics.

2003: Jarome Iginla goes through the same situation as Owen Nolan - falling back to Earth after an unusually good offensive season.

2004: Dany Heatley may have been cursed, but Joe Sakic gets a Lester B. Pearson nomination.

2005: Markus Naslund... I'm sure he did well in MODO.

2006: Vincent Lecavalier began his ascension with the second-highest scoring season of his career to that point.

2007: Alexander Ovechkin certainly had the worst season of his first five years, but he was still above 90 points.

2008: Eric Staal is a good example.

2009: Dion Phaneuf is a better example.

2010: Patrick Kane had far-and-away his best season and playoff, winning the Stanley Cup.

2011: Jonathan Toews has his career year and finishes second in Selke voting.

2012: Steven Stamkos scores six-thousand goals.

Of course Datsyuk isn't going to be on the cover. It makes too much sense, as he is the only one that can actually pull off any moves from a video game...
