I'm a fan of most of these. The kicking motion stuff: just allow it already. The faceoff rule, I think, is only following an icing, which I love. No more of the "what a veteran move right here!" when a guy gets tossed from the faceoff after an icing. Trapezoid is a good one too. If I'm understanding the tripping thing right, I like it too. It's always been a bit odd to me that it's not considered tripping simply because you caught the edge of the puck a moment before tripping a guy.
The reason for not allowing a real kick is a safety thing for goaltenders. The last thing those guys need is guys with knives strapped to their feet swinging their feet all over the place.
Not a fan of the new tripping rule.
The part that actually frightens me the most about the change to the kicking review is where they say "... or to uphold a "no goal" call on the ice."
Are they saying now that the burden of proof is on the original call to stand, not on the video review to overturn?
I, for one, am glad that they are cracking down on glittery showmanship in something as important as a shootout.
If they are going to take the glitter out of the shootout, the least they could do is extend beer sales to the end of the third period.
no spinaramas? I guess the flames are going to really regret that Raymond signing now.
Probably going to be one of the least discussed changes but the puck going out of play in the offensive zone changes essentially means every time the puck goes out of play it's either a face off in the offensive zone or a penalty. And a face off in the offensive zone.
