Here is where my hockey ignorance is showing. I don't understand why Nos would draft the best goon in the game(probert) to start him on the 5th line. Does that accomplish anything?? Who is he protecting?? And is he good enough to stand alone vs these players. Just want that answered before I make my pick. And also want to see what more knowledgable people have to say about this matchup.

Probert wasnt always just a goon, he scored 62 points his 3rd season. He scored over 40 points 3 other times. Just because I have him on the 4th line doesn't mean I wouldn't move him around.

This. You can move him around but actually the point of putting him 4th line is that your 4th Is supposed to be a change up from the rest.

He doesn't need to protect guys. But on the 4th line he can go out and set a tone and also not hamper a top line by not being as skilled.

He should be mostly on line 4.

I'll vote in 1 moment

I thought before the matchups came out that Milk, Hockey and Gold had the 3 best teams. I know Gold took 3-4 guys that I was going to take with my next pick. Having Federov as your 3rd line C is pretty deep, and I like his top D lines. Goalies are close, and I thought Nos put together a good team

Gold

Gold and his his hard hitting AND skilled top 4 dmen will be tough.

But I think Nos spread out great scoring and nice center play to be able to over come that.

He's got 2 elite wings on his 1st and second line in the Flower and Bossy which is huge to me.

Nos.

I think Gold has a top 3 team and it's a shame these two meet in the first round but I think I put together a perfect team.

I have elite scorers and someone who can protect on every line, Andreychuk, Roberts, Neely, Probert. My defense is very strong with great checkers, great PP guys and guys who can put the puck in the net. I also have the winningest goalie in the history of the game and someone who came up big in the biggest games.

I vote me...

And I should add that I think this is VERY close.

And as nos basically stated if we did this match ups off rankings. Gold and Nos don't play 1st round.

I think Golds team is great. Just had Nos edging him.

I do love the size of Gold's defense... It is going to make scoring off this team even harder... AND Gold also has the best offensive player... I am going for the Gold...

Too bad his best offensive player cant play on all 4 lines. :suds:

Arguably the best defenseman who ever played was 6'1 190

I figured this would be a great matchup when I pulled the names from the coffee cup (which I have never used for coffee)

I feel like Nos has better depth but Gold is better at the top 2 lines and love his first D pairing too. I'm going to go with Gold

I have to call total BS on the outcome on this game. Not saying Gold doesn't have a great team, he does but I feel a little bias is overcoming our drafts. I have seen a pattern where guys vote for teams with more name recognition over teams with better players. I feel this is the case in this matchup. Now if you researched the players you would see how Nos's team is top 1-2 in all of the draft. He got scorers, he got mean ruthless guys not just on D, guys who are great in passing the puck for assists (huge part of the game) and I believe he has team chemistry. Once again I am not saying Gold has a bad team but I just don't see how guys keep voting against Nos's better teams. I love to vote against Nos when ever I can but that's only when he truly does have a weaker team then his opponent which is rare. Maybe Nos gets no love cuz he won so many in the past which is truly not a fair way to judge. These mock drafts were based to be fun and to predict a accurate winner not vote for the most guys you like (either the players on the team or participant in the draft). I just ask everyone to do the research on the players they never heard of before so you can learn who is who and if it was a good pick or a bad one. Plus it helps you in future drafts. I will get off my pedestal now.

Both :noidea:

Seriously voting needs to be taken seriously and maybe reevaluated. Once again I play no favorites, I vote best team according to me (which isn't always right)
