NFL to hold combine for veteran free agents - ESPN

Seems like a good idea to me. A good place for teams to look for potential replacement players that they never got a chance to scout in the past.

To me this gives that middle tier set of players the best chance to make a team. Unfortunately with the most recent CBA the whole setting up a draft pay scale has not worked out for the veterans quite like they had hoped. The top tier players definitely get their money big time but they take up the biggest chunk. Teams are now using the draft more than ever to fill out their roster so they then can afford the big time players in the league who are demanding ridiculous levels of money. So again that middle tier of players are the players struggling to get even a decent contract. Hopefully this new combine gives them a shot to show a team or two that they are well worth taking a chance on.
