I'd rather see no guaranteed contracts. Not a single penny. You would get a better product on the field.

Like all contracts, there is probably a recision clause. If both parties agree to cancel, there is no harm. Also, a performance clause can be included to protect both sides.

Socialist regime? Not sure where you're going with that one.

Are you a contract worker? In business in the real world, if a contract is signed both sides need to honor that contract or face legal action.
People don't get paid just because they exist. You have to earn it.

In the business world, if a contract is signed but one party doesn't live up to their side, contracts are voided. It happens every day.

Pot should be legal in pro sports, alcohol is worse anyway...
I'd rather see them ban use of alcohol and tobacco in addition to weed. Promote healthiness and being the best you can be. Plenty of time after retiring from sports, to go to pot, pun intended.
I'd be for putting a age cap on players. Mandatory retirement at age 30, maybe exempt QBs and kickers. Maybe the players can leave the league healthy, with less chance of long term damage to them and for the league turning over rosters with youth is a good thing also.
Society has gotten way to permissive and decadent.

They way I see it, many players ARE earning it and not getting the financial security they deserve for busting their ass and putting their bodies through hell.

The financial security? Seriously?

Let them be lawyers, doctors and such if it isn't worth it.

I'm not talking about the NFL star divas like AB who make $20+M/y, I'm talking about guys like Duke Johnson who recently signed a contract making < $5M/y at the most physically brutal position in the league possibly getting cut for no good reason with three years left on his contract.

Duke got $3,170, 000 in bonus money up front and he made $3,990,000 last year for being a backup RB. That's a stiff over pay. I'm pretty sure he'll get by.:rolleyes2:

From what I have read unless you have a major issue with pot you won't get caught. Just use some sound judgement & avoid it during very well known testing times. Now this won't help if you are say a Josh Gordon or if you have been caught before.

Oh well - we all have restrictions in our jobs that we have to deal with - such is life. I am saying this while also being of the mindset that pot should be legal everywhere. Job restrictions are totally different than legal restrictions.

That's only your assumption. Fact is there have been dozens of big contracts given out to guys who didn't deserve them and didn't earn them. If I have a bad year in my job, I can be fired. They should have to live with that expectation as well. The NFL is not a socialist regime, and for good reason.

Cough, cough, Blake Bortles.....

Well he's not getting cut, he'll be traded. And he's also got plenty of tread left on the tires, so he's not going to be short for work regardless.
