Good news for the City of San Diego if true... maybe this will force the sale of the Chargers. Spanos is already burning bridges before leaving town. Ownership has been the albatross around this team's neck since it's inception.

Agreed. People around here have never been real confident in ownership, but lately everyone just seems to hate him for refusing to negotiate. He claims he can't risk losing the 25% of season ticket holders he has in LA (which are in reality just ticket brokers), but doesn't seem to give a fuck about the 75% in San Diego. Any chance he had of a backup plan working is probably gone because of his actions.

On the other hand, the $1 billion fee makes sense. Any one of these 3 franchises will likely go up in value at least that much with a move to LA and a brand new stadium. The league has to do something to discourage owners from moving there if their only intent is to sell the team at a higher value.

Of course the NFL wants LA vacant. They have to extort every other stadium with the threat of moving to LA to get the taxpayers to take the burden

That 1 billion should go to all the other cities that have tax-payer funded stadiums. If someone pockets it those someones should be robbed at gunpoint and roughed up a little.

If the NFL can't beat Tom Brady in court, like Al Davis before, Stanley will laugh and say try me.
