I guess if the knee keeps getting worse even more reason to get rid of him. Assuming NE drafts somewhere after pick #20 next year would you take their 2nd? His contract is team friendly to whomever trades for him unless he wants to renegotiate.

If he wants a new deal you probably get at best a 3rd but if he doesn't, right now he only costs his new team in 2027 under $19M. This year it's murky because as discussed in another thread it isn't clear what happened with his $27.5M option bonus. If his option bonus was fully paid as expected he could cost a new team as little as under $2M this year which is probably why a 1st rounder is being discussed but if the OB was renegotiated or pushed back or in some other way changed to pass on to another team in a trade like converted to a guaranteed base salary (perhaps with a little boost) he could cost the new team a lot more. Basically if there is no change to his contract a new team could get him for 2 years and $23M and then can go year to year with no guaranteed money for like $30Mish per. Knowing the contract is a massive part of any trade compensation and looking at it that way, maybe a first is in play or maybe Brown immediately wants a new deal as part of any trade which could really make it a lot more difficult
