The Brooklyn Nets will sign center Jason Collins to a second 10-day contract Wednesday, a source confirmed to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard on Monday.
Collins became the first openly gay athlete to play in one of North America's four major professional sports leagues when he played 11 minutes in the Nets' 108-102 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 23 at Staples Center.
In four games with the Nets, Collins is averaging 0.8 points, 1.0 rebounds and 8.5 minutes.
