They suddenly care about academics.

That's a pretty bad look...

They think he didn't take the ACT or something?
He has averages grades in high school and got a 31 on the act is what I’m hearing. NCAA has no proof of wrongdoing.

Lol, plenty of kids do that. ACT is a fuckin' test for god's sake; a test that K-12 basically teaches for. Or at least enough to where that isn't grounds for an investigation. Easily could see a meh-motivated student being suddenly motivated for an ACT as that's more tangible then "some time far away from now."

this is an insane story

and if they don't have any proof that he cheated, this is none of the NCAA's business

Bilas is annoying and guilty of beating a dead horse when it comes to the NCAA, but he is 100% right here

I don't know who hs the jurisdiction here, but if he's got
only average grades in school and his ACT is 31...someone
needs to look into it. A 31 puts him in the top 95 percentile
of all students in America. That doesn't look right for a C student.

Yeah.....fab melo sunk SU with this shit. They guy was dumb as a rock but almost maxed a re-test he grossly failed a few days earlier. If a person's going to cheat, be a little smart about it.

Back in the day the NCAA did care about academics as you had to have a minimum of 700 on the SAT(you get that for signing your name and now it's 860) and maintain a GPA of 2.25 (now it's 2.0 but can depend on the school), or finish in the top half of your graduating class(that's ridiculous).

D2 schools have a minimum 820 on the SAT

We've heard so many stories in the past about kids only getting into college because they can shoot a basketball or throw a football and not because of their school marks. Still from what I've read in this thread this kid seems smart enough and the NCAA should leave well enough alone.
