Can we now close the discussion on why college football needed a playoff system ? There were a lot of people actually arguing that it wasn't necessary .. Well... #4 just beat #1 .... Right now both teams that are playing in the title game might have been left out... Most likely would a been Florida State vs Alabama ... I hope they expand the playoffs even further in college football... That was fun....

I think it should also be a maximum of 8. Any more is a bit ridiculous and does start to really devalue the regular season.

Agree, instead of putting Saban in the CShip game every year (seems that way) at least give them a chance to earn it... I haven't had this much interest in a bowl games (outside my favorite team) since the late 90's...

I just wish TCU had an opportunity to play in the final , which is why I hope they make it a 8 team max...

Five of the spots could go to the winners of the five power conferences along with three at large bids. Pretty sure something like that is forthcoming within a few years.

Im sure its coming. I just think 4 is fine because there is still emphasis on winning your conference and i have a hard time allowing the other talked team compete for a national title.

If they allowed 8 this year there would be two 2 loss teams that didnt w in their conference. I could get behind a 6 team format, but with 8 you would have undeserving teams in every year.

It's a major improvement. They should go to 8 in a couple of years. That will just about right. Better a couple of teams get in that don't necessarily "deserve" a shot than a couple of teams who are worthy get shut out... the undeserving will probably lose early anyway if they're truly not worthy.
