Williams said the NCAA denied the request because both teams already had two exhibition games on their 2018-19 schedule and, per the governing body's rules, allowing an extra game would make for an unfair advantage. The veteran coach said "that was not the intent."
So why not just cancel the other two exhibition games?
Lol, I didn't see that in the article that this was an option until a few minutes ago. You would think they would, guess not
It would be great PR for the NCAA who don't really have the best public perception right now.
South Carolina's exhibition game is against Augusta and North Carolina's exhibition game is against Mount Olive, both of which are D2 teams. Those are the matchups the NCAA is preserving.
NCAA should do anything and everything to improve its image. Hello, they allow schools to "bend" the rules all the time
the advantage is it gets them battle tested against a P6 team before everyone else.
Also, how is 1 extra exhibition game an unfair advantage? Exhibition games don't count in the final record. This literally makes no sense to me.
Wouldn't that be UNCs call?It would be great PR for the NCAA who don't really have the best public perception right now.

The NCAA shouldn't be cancelling anyone's exhibitions imo.
But imo they're right in this situation to deny an extra scrimmage.
Me either.Well both UNC and South Carolina want to do this exhibition so if both those schools are okay cancelling the existing scrimmage with the D2 schools, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to have the game.
