The NCAA just approved multi-year scholarships and will allow individual conferences to vote on the $2,000 "grant" to athletes. The multi-year scholarship change is fantastic; if a kid is going to commit to a university, the university should be on the hook for their education. Here's a link to the article (unfortunately it's on ESPN...)

I assume if the player gets kicked off the team he still loses the scholarship. At least I hope so.
Also, what happens if the player leaves early? If a kid is going to commit to a school then shouldn't he be obligated to stay for as long as the school is obligated to pay?
I personally think there's nothing more classless than abandoning the school that gave you your chance to make your dreams come true.

Couldn't agree more; it'll be interesting to see how each conference decides to employ the new "rules."

what conference wouldn't allow the $2000 grant. Hey, lets give kids less of a reason to come here.

LMAO @ the "Vote"

What conference in their right mind wouldn't vote for this?

goodbye to all the talent if you say no.

Also, this doesn't hurt the schools with big boosters. Just makes it worse for the little guy. shame.

Maybe 30-40 schools actually make a profit from collegiate athletics

How are the rest going to compete?

Problems will come of this though...

At some point, student's in the East or West coast will bring up the fact that $2000. in their location does not = what $2000. in the midwest brings...
