Imo, it's a combination of where he was picked, the expectation of the Sixers to win and how poorly this whole thing has been handled by both him and the Sixers.

In some ways, it reminds me of what Lonzo Ball and the Lakers have gone through. Between all of the hype coming out of UCLA, Magic talking about his jersey eventually being retired and his Dad's big mouth...every flaw gets magnified and every strength gets downplayed. The kid has elite vision and passing skills, has played better than expected defense and seems to only be getting better at it...yet all you really hear about is his shooting (which has improved this year, but still has a ways to go to even be solid).

At this point, it might be best for him and the Sixers if he went someplace where he can just be allowed to develop without a lot of pressure on him. But he's only 20 and has some obvious talent, so the Sixers shouldn't look to just give him away.

I've said before, you hate to do it because of where he was picked, but if the Sixers are going to keep him, a little time in the G-League might not be the worst thing for him.
Let’s not overlook the Celtics fleecing the sixers here?
