Gilmore - 6-16 record - 18.3ppg
Lanier - 16-6 record - 15.8ppg

It's all we have in terms of head to head... I don't think Gilmore is game changingly better than Lanier... Jordan is going to be facing some solid defense where Bird faces less pressure, I can also move him to the 4 where PJ Brown or Dolph Shayes would get torched... If Iggy bumps... Well we can go back and forth but I think I have more defense and scoring combined...

I agree he was the better defender but Lanier's offense mixed with the spreading of my offense... He'd have to take on Lanier 1on1 and Lanier averaged 3.1 asts per game a career with a career high of 4.6 and 4.2 respectively... I think the sum of my parts puts my players in better position... And no you can not respond!

In the post he's great, but no way he could get close to stopping Bird... He was great at leaving his man to cover the lane, he isn't as good when he has to cover guys who play outside the key... He's more of a Center or great vs back to the basket PFs... You'd probably have to put Iggy at PF if I moved Bird...

I like WLK's bench just a bit better, but I think MJ ultimately trumps in a very close game.

i got my team... i disagree with WLK that he has better defense... I think my team is better defensively...

I don't completely disagree here however...

When I drafted (anytime I draft when MJ is eligible) I always grab a defensive SG and hopefully get one who can shoot ever better if he can score other ways... Dumars and Jones do that well... Looking at your team you have great post defense with Artis and PJ no question... However they are both the same type of defenders meaning they both man the paint... If we are talking entire teams... Ainge doesn't give me as much of an advantage at PG vs Billups though I feel he could run him around to get him tired as Billups is more an on the ball defender let's assume that I'm not burning him and Artis is locking down Lanier...

That changes the entire complexion of the game and I still have great defense without sacrificing offense... Gilmore and PJ both must defend guys who can move out 18' plus... Kenny Anderson in the Pick and roll/pop game with Bird and Dumars as catch and shooters... Bird then can play the post vs iggy where he owns iggy and now Lanier faces tree... I get it MJ is MJ and Milk put some nice D out there... But also let's say MJ scores 50, who else scores...? I disagree but I've been wrong before...
