The racing has been much better this year compared to the last few years, and they’re coming back to a legacy track. They’re heading in the right direction.

Not sure what track lost out, I’m assuming either Fontana or Chicagoland

Just saw that Dover is dropping a race to make room, tracks are owned by same people

Gateway and Iowa are likely the next tracks to be added.

Sadly, North Wilkesboro and Rockingham are probably too far gone

I was going to ask about the owner ... a few years back, Bristol was thinking about imposing a luxury tax on BMS and all tickets/boxes. Brewton Smith pointed out that he owned several speedways and could just hold an extra race at two other tracks in lieu of Bristol. For some strange and mysterious reason, the luxury tax was voted down and never mentioned again.

Bruton Smith ownes a lotnof the tracks, don’t think he ownes Dover or Nashville though. Pretty sure Pocono is the only family owned track

they are coming to the track that was built in 2001 and hosted Busch series races, not the old Winston Cup track

North Wilkesboro and Rockingham were casualties of the boom that the sport experienced in the 1990s/2000s. Removing two North Carolina-based tracks from NASCAR's top series was a stupid move, but it's too late to rectify that mistake.

fwiw, the state of NC is dumping 8 million into Rockingham for a renovation

You're right. Apparently the old fairgrounds track is still active and being considered for Busch and Truck races.

Two of the tracks I miss the most. I prefer short track racing

Just remember I was wrong about it being at the old Fairgrounds, it’s the track the Busch Series used to race on in the 2000’s

Yeah I wrote that out but then scrolled through and saw it had already been said so I deleted.

Trucks may go to the Fairgrounds though.

It’s still a pretty good track. I might go.

I've been to short (Richmond and many local tracks), long (New Hampshire, Dover), Real Superspeedways (Pocono and Talladega) and road courses (Watkins Glen).
Richmond was my favorite, but they all have their pluses.
Pocono, 2.5 miles and no restrictor plates, 1 lap after a restart when the cars are all pretty much still together, but have had a full lap to get up to speed...
First time I was there I was row 52, and the concussion when they all went by over 200 before turn 1, still gives me goosebumps 30 years later.
