!) Playoff game in Denver against the jagwads and Michael Dean Perry didn't get off the field fast enough causing a needless Broncos penalty giving the jagwads another 1st down.

2) The snap over Manning's head 1st play of the Super Bowl against the Seahawks.

3) Timmy Smith in his first start at the Super Bowl on to 200 yards rushing against a hapless Bronco's defense.

Dishonorable mention
The relentless beating the 9ers put on the Bronco's in the Super Bowl - running up 55 points.

SB XLVIII: Fox and his staff failed the team. Everything about that game leading into it, how they prepared, where they stayed, moving hotels, leaving the IR players in Denver for media week, all of that undermined the team. And despite all that I still can’t help but wonder if it is an entirely different outcome had that first snap not gone the way it did.

2012 Divisional Game: That 2012 Broncos team should have reached the Super Bowl. It would likely have dismantled the 49ers too, though we have no way of definitively proving that.

2005 AFCCG: With the Colts out of the picture it seemed like the Broncos year. Then everything went sideways. The ball just kept bouncing the Steelers way that day (actually through the entire playoffs) proving sometimes the playoff gods just make their decision and there’s nothing you can do about it. I firmly believe that 2005 team would have smoked the Seahawks but again, impossible to actually prove.

BTW: disappointments are a part of sports fandom. And if you’re a sports fan, more often than not it isn’t your team’s year.

All the disappointments just make it better when it actually does break in your favor. SB50 was incredible. Such an improbable story and so incredibly satisfying it almost made the disappointments from the 2012-2014 teams worth it.
