I know there is a thread of this name already.

But here is what I see going into the off season

D-line

I expect we will resign Pot Roast, keep Baker, RJF and Peea. Hatcher will likely retire and Golston is a bit long in the tooth. So we will need to bring in some help here as well as an actual starter at one of the DE spots. Kearse will be around for camp, but Im hoping we get a little more comp in there.

Line Backers, Kerrigan leads a rather pedestrian bunch. But I expect us to resign Gallett and add him to Murphy and Smith who will both become backups. Seeing us grab a young FA or draft a rookie OLB would not shock at all.

Inside LBs.... aside from Compton and Foster who both stepped up, the group is vanilla and injury prone. I could see them letting Robinson walk and Riley is sadly naught more than depth. Here is where i expect we will spend a rather high draft pick or two between ILB and OLB respectively. Ragland comes to mind as he has the chops to play both inside spots, and likely could flex out to the OLB spot if needed.

Secondary..... I actually think this group has the potential to be the strongest unit on the defense... If every comes back and can stay healthy. I actually like hall as a SS, and Jarrett along with Goldson make a decent unit with some room to grow. Yes i think we need a 4th and 5th safety, but I think we could be solid on starters.

CB... this hinges on Culliver getting healthy. But we know Breeland can play. Dunbar held up extremely well for some one who was a WR 4 months ago. And again I think this is all going to be about health and depth.

My thread is better. :) In all seriousness, we need help on the d-line. Hopefully, there'll be someone at #22, but by then, a lot of the blue chippers are off the market.

Damn... I actually forgot we had Spaight sitting on IR.

As for the D-line... I expect as usual there will be a guy that slips due to injury or doing something dumb within the next 3 months. Question is, do we take a chance on one of these guys, or delve into the FA Market.

I havent really taken a hard look at what will be on the market in two months. Figure some where around the 1st week of March I will start paying attention to who is likely to be on the market in FA.

You have to figure that there a very few d-linemen of any worth that hit the open market. For those that do, like Suh, they'll demand a king's ransom. The best shot we have in landing a franchise d-lineman is in the draft. But we may be too far down the ladder to get one that will another Marcel Dareus, Gerald McCoy, etc. Fortunately, we've got Scot to make this happen. And, with him, I think we'll be okay.

OH i dont expect us to get more than a one or two year rental in FA unless its another Gallett type situation. A guy with talent, but issues. And we wont be in the market for a King Kong Suh franchise crushing deal.

Thank God we didn't sign him. He's not a Haynesworth, but his play is not nearly worth his contract or the cap hit we'd take each year with his deal.
