I got a Google Chromebook and the battery is plugged into a power strip which is plugged into a wall but now it's saying the battery is low even though the thing is plugged in and I really don't know what's causing this

Could embedded controller malfunctioning. Try this:

Embedded Controller (EC) is an EC reset (also called a hard reset).

To perform an EC reset:

  1. Shut down the Chromebook completely.
  2. Press and hold the Refresh (↻) key and the Power button simultaneously.
  3. Hold them for 10 seconds.
  4. Release both keys. The Chromebook should restart.

Did you let the battery run out before charging it for the first time?

The part that says “chromebook” went bad.
