Good idea, but I don't think there are quite enough world players playing at an all star level to make it viable at this point.

But as the game continues to grow in popularity, I could see the league reaching a point where it does become viable.

I got a real cool idea, how about the east vs west and players actually play defense?

I honestly don't understand the fuss.

It is 1 game. It is an exhibition. A chance for the greatest players in the world to play for fun and to show off a bit.

Yeah, the defense has dropped off considerably from where it was 30 years ago, but this game has always been an offensive showcase with little defense. It is just a bit too extreme right now.

Give the players an incentive that they care about and defense will return to acceptable levels.

I honestly couldn't care less about the all-star game and how it is played. All all-star games are silly. They made a lot more sense before things like League Pass.

Agree. I'm not even sure that the defense is that much worse than it was 30 years ago.

Imo, the game is pretty much the same as it's always been. There's little to no defense played until towards the end of the game if it's close.

    It is worse though.

30 years ago it was like James Harden meme defense. Now, guys don't even try to get in the frame half the time.

I want to see a fast pace, highlight filled game where guys try things they wouldn't in a real game. I think that is kind of the point of an all star game. But I would like to see a little more defense. Not much, but more.

I agree it's worse, I just don't see it as that much worse. I'd like to see some more defense too. But, end of the day, it doesn't matter much to me one way or the other.

I think they played it a little more seriously 30 years ago. Back then, guys weren't usually "friends" until late in their careers or after they were over. They still had a lot of fun, but they tended to compete a little harder against each other.

Now, a lot of these guys are friends before they ever enter the league so they concentrate more on the fun of the all star game than the competition of it.

Golden State Warriors versus the best team the rest of the NBA can put together and they go best of 5.

My idea is letting Steph Curry play a full 48 minutes and take every shot, while the other 4 teammates essentially act as offensive linemen blocking for him.

Might as well let them use WNBA balls with the way things are going.

It makes no sense to separate them into US / World. In any given season, you could have only 3-4 guys from the US or from the rest of the world who are worth of an AS appearance. Then what do you do?

I guess it could be a neat exhibition game for the AS experience but not for the actual AS game.
