LaMonte Wade Jr. is a great story. I met him when he played in the low minors and found him to be a very pleasant young guy. He told me that he was really enjoying getting paid to play a game he'd played since he was a little boy. I'm happy to see that he did as well as he did this year.
Great find by the Giants' scouts.

Who had Lamonte Wade Jr in their top 10? Is Lamonte Wade Sr. a sportswriter or something?
He was HUGE for the Giants this year. Tossing him a single 10th place vote is not an injustice in any way.

Yeah I get it. Some voters probably don't even use all 10 spots. And now he's got an MVP vote on his Baseball Reference page.
Granted he did have a great year. That's why I think Kapler was far and away the best manager of the year. He plays guys when they are most likely to succeed. You combine Wade and Ruf and you've got a bonafide MVP. And for a salary that's only a fraction of the cost of a Harper, Goldschmidt, Freeman, etc.

His “Line Change” strategy is hard to get used to, but you can’t argue the results.
