In the AL it's probably either Abreu (better offensive numbers) or Trout (better defense, running, team, not a rookie)

But the NL, kind of hard to say, right? McCutcheon? Hurt. Tulo? Hurt and bad team. Can't think of anyone specific on Milwaukee, St Louis, Washington,Atlanta, Giants....Puig maybe? If he crushes it over the next 2 months do they give it to Kershaw?

Obviously someone could go nuts the next 2 months with the bat and take it but right now pretty hard to say...

That's what I'm talking about...

I wonder if the odds makers account for the rarity of pitchers winning, they kind of have to don't they?

I don't think the odds makers leave out any considerations. They don't make tons of money by overlooking obvious factors.

Jason? The guy with a .750 OPS on a second place team? He has a high WAR, but he's not been MVP material. Most of that WAR comes from his defense, which is arguable as to how much value that actually carries. Plus, you never seen a guy win an MVP based on defense.

At this point (if the season ended today), it's Kershaw, McCutchen, Puig, Goldschmidt, Lucroy, Tulo, Stanton, Pence. Probably in that order.

Injuries will probably take out 3 of those guys (Cutchy, Tulo, Goldy), depending on the length.
