I think Tyler Larsen is going to see his stock rise as the college season unfolds. Playing in front of a mobile QB in Chucky Keaton will only help with this read option trend on the rise.

Screw that, the Lions need either Marquis Lee or CJ Mosely.

Anthony Barr is a 3-4 guy. This season will also only be his 2nd season ever playing LB after converting from RB. I love the guy, but he doesn't fit the Lions' D.

2014 NFL Mock Draft: Matt Miller's NFL Week 1 Projections SEPTEMBER 4, 2013

16. Detroit Lions

The Pick: Khalil Mack, Linebacker, Buffalo

The Detroit Lions are a team of superstars. Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Reggie Bush, Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley are all household names at this point. What the team lacks are those second-tier players who show up on Sunday ready to do whatever it takes to win. The 2014 draft should be about rounding out the roster in Detroit. Adding defenders who play tough assignment football with athleticism would be a coup for this roster. In Khalil Mack, the Lions can add that player. Mack nearly single-handed kept the Buffalo Bulls competitive against Ohio State in the season opener. A Von Miller-like prospect, he can rush the quarterback, attack the run in space or even drop into coverage. Mack does it all at full speed, and he's the rare play maker who doesn't deviate from his assignment. If that sounds like what the Lions need behind their front four, it's because it is. Mack to Detroit would be a match made in football heaven.

Chucky Keaton is awesome. I thought he was going to ruin the Utes season in week 1 for a bit.

Last year every mock up until after the Senior Bowl had the Lions taking Bjorn Werner or Damontre Moore. Blind following the blind.

2014 Detroit Lions NFL draft watch -- Week 3

Nebraska scouting reports have their eye on UCLA's Anthony Barr, and so should you.

Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA #11 UCLA at Nebraska, 12 p.m., ABC
For two years in Los Angeles, Anthony Barr was just another fullback with minimal receptions. Then Jim Mora took over and moved him to linebacker. It turned out to be a stroke of genius as Barr burst on to the scene and became one of the nation's leaders in sacks. Barr finished his junior season with 13 sacks, 83 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, five passes batted and four forced fumbles.

Barr (6-4, 244) is on everyone's top 10 prospect list, so his presence on this watch list is nothing unique. But the reason I highlight him as one to watch today, is the matchup. In order to continue his dominance as a sack master this Saturday, he'll have to fight through a Nebraska offensive unit that has more seniors than the AARP. In two games so far, the Huskers have rushed for 660 yards and they're just one of seven teams nationally that haven't allowed a sack.

He'll also have to prove that he has the ability to wrap up an elusive quarterback like Taylor Martinez, and do it on the road.

UCLA OLB Anthony Barr had 11 tackles & 3 forced fumbles today. He keeps getting better & better. His upside is off the charts.

Isnt he going to be a better fit for the 3-4 OLB. I am sure he will put a few pounds on by next year too so he would even be the right size for it. He would be much more valuable to one of those teams then he would be for us.

Lets hope Mosely is there for us. He fits our needs much better.

Seriously?? As if this wasn't already the fucking dumbest thread EVER put up on this board. You start talking draft before the season had even started but now your big board has us taking a TE with our first round pick??? WTF? We didn't learn our lesson from the Pettigrew pick.

I'm not going to do the research but how many starting TE's in this league were first round picks?

First round tight ends are usually pretty damn good players though Meow. Off the top of my head, BP, Jermain Gresham, Vernon Davis, Mercedes Lewis, Dallas Clark, Greg Olsen, Heath Miller, Tyler Eifert(2 for Cincy) and Coby Fleener was a second rounder, but barely. Theres more im sure. (Jeremy Shockey and his USA tats dont play anymore do they?) If Dwayne Allen were coming out again this year, I'd support us taking him at the end of the first. We need exactly what he brings to the table. But he's not, and he's hurt.

ASJ has been my #1 or #2 pick more often than not since April. I see that at least 1 person finally agrees with me:

Detroit Lions: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington
The Lions often go with the best player available. That would easily be Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who is an absolute stud. He'll be a matchup nightmare, much like Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham.

Brandon Pettigrew has been phased out of the offense because he's too unreliable. Undrafted rookie Joseph Fauria has shown some promise as a potential replacement, but Seferian-Jenkins would be a huge upgrade.

Follow @walterfootball for updates.

Pick change; previously Cyrus Kouandjio, OT
