There was a question on Twitter about who is the best 2B in Mariners history so I decided to use Fangraphs to see what the numbers say. I will post by position as I get bored, but will start today with 2B.

I picked Boone prior to running the numbers. I put extra points towards players that played in the playoffs for the M's and Boone was in the 2001 Playoffs and Cano was in none...

My biggest surprise (surprised at the huge difference more than anything) is the difference in leader numbers between CF and RF vs LF.

Leaders:
RF: Ichiro. - 54.4
CF: Griffey. - 67.6
LF: Ibanez. - 12.3

I think 2B was probably the hardest for me as I was back and forth between Cano and Boone. I thought about going Boone out of spite of Cano missing half a season but I guess it was for the same thing that Boone probably did as well.

I'd go Seagar at 3rd just because Edgar is DH.

I agree with the 2B decision. I went back and forth as well, but Boone for 2001 season won me out.

Edgar wasn't that bad of a 3B. I was surprised he still had the best numbers while playing 3B than any other Mariner though Seager is closing in.

Maybe I was wrong on that. The numbers should have been while playing at 3B but I just noticed they are the same as his DH numbers. Fangraphs got me on that.

Joey was the best 2B IMO. He didn’t have the longevity but was the only 2B that had an impact. You could argue Boone but he couldn’t hit a single HR in the derby and didn’t show up for the playoffs. Personally I prefer Harold but he played on some dog teams.

He nearly had a massive homer, well he did it just didnt end up meaning much because Rhodes did his Yankee Stadium thing the next half inning.

Yea mainly meant if I were making an All time Mariners Team I'd stick Edgar at DH and Seagar at 3rd.

Eh, I’d still put Joey over Boone.

Main things that stick out to me with the relievers is how high Rhodes is and low Kaz is considering they were on the same team and probably viewed differently.

Its a shame for how good Rhodes was during the regular season, i only think of him for his playoff failures.

Ya I noticed that when I ran it as well. I liked Rhodes, but never had him as #1 RP or even Top 5.

MLB is in the middle of their Dream Bracket Series. The seeding was based on World Series titles and overall team history. The Mariners got matched with the Yankees which tells you what you need to know about the seeding and their history. Regardless I figured it fit here since it was the MLB Networks take on an all time Mariners team. Links and results against the Yankees below.

Ichiro stars, but Mariners fall in Dream Bracket

MARINERS

Pitchers: Félix Hernández, Randy Johnson, Jamie Moyer, Mark Langston, Freddy Garcia, Hisashi Iwakuma, Erik Hanson, J.J. Putz, Edwin Díaz, Arthur Rhodes, Kazuhiro Sasaki

Starters:
C: Dan Wilson
1B: John Olerud
2B: Bret Boone
3B: Edgar Martinez
SS: Alex Rodriguez
LF: Jay Buhner
CF: Ken Griffey Jr.
RF: Ichiro Suzuki
DH: Nelson Cruz

Bench: Harold Reynolds, Alvin Davis, Kyle Seager, Mike Cameron, Adrián Beltré, Mike Zunino
