If they move the rubber back a foot, raise the mound 9".

Bullshit, there is no reason to move the mound back. How about everyone quit striking out 180 times and hit the ball where it’s pitched? Baseball keeps rewarding bad hitters and I’m about done with it. It’s shameful, you see these switches with a whole side of the field wide open and guys still strikeout trying to pull the ball. It’s a great game, but not played like this it’s not.

I think they need to do something to the game to make less strike outs and more hits and home runs. And more extra base hits and not just a single here then a single there.

Easy remove the shift and stop messing with the baseballs

Consider me disgusted if this goes through...

Stop making all of your pitchers throw 95+ with guaranteed TJ surgery. Stop pretending like launch angle is a real thing. Adapt your hitting style when you see half the field wide open. Play Small Ball...

Don't start messing with the measurements. Should the NFL make the endzones smaller via too much offense? NHL bigger nets for more goals? No... Please, no...

How about teaching hitters like Baez, who might K 300 times this season, to not swing from their heels every time and put the ball in pkay. This mound move is stupid.

just move the fences back. Put an emphasis on line drive hitting and gap power... and defense. I don't think you need to do anything with the mound.
This and raising and lower the mounds has always been what baseball has done when we enter an era of either a lot pitching or a lot hitting.

But Manfred is at it and to get fans interested, why not piss off all of the moneyball nerds who have ruined baseball and shorten the bases. I know home runs are number 1 but stolen bases is and always will be number 2 in terms of getting fans energized.

Agreed. Sadly this won’t happen. They don’t want to piss off fans in the stadium

Wouldn't this "lengthen" the time of the game though since the batters will be getting more hits? Since they could see the ball better? Just a question
It's a strategy to sell more $15 cups of disappointing beer to the 175 fans packed into the stadium!

It's been 60 feet 6 inches since forever.

I mean, what's next, shortening the distance between the bases because stolen bases are down?

Dimensions have been fine for over 100 years. Leave it alone.

Agree 100%

I do not ever see them changing any infield dimensions ever ( basepaths - mound to home etc )

Move the HR fences - has happened at a few parks
Add protective netting - has happened at all MLB parks
Sell a $1 hot dog for $8 - check
Sell a $2 beer for 11 - check
Make it so a family of 4 needs to give up a kidney or 1st born to afford tickets to a game - check

I just do not see them ever altering the distance from the pitching rubber to home plate

MLB TV is talking right now about moving the mound back and how it will only help hitters.

Are you in favor of this?
No....bad enough they lowered it because of Drysdale and Bob Gibson.
btw, Designated Hitter is cheating.

I’d support making pitchers leave their hat and glove in a box, or whatever, between every inning. Same with catchers.

Whatever Houston starting using 3-4 years ago to up spin rate is definitely a massive advantage.

The “tradition” of opposing teams needing to request inspection needs to go away. Since not many managers will do it, since their guys are doctoring the ball as well.

We had equipment checks before every game in HS. Sometimes you get away with stuff, sometimes you don’t.

Moving the mound back is a horrible idea. Guys have learned to use breaking pitches from the same distance since they were 12-13. You don’t simply adjust.

I just saw Bill James on MLB Network and he made a great point. If the rubber is moved back, breaking pitches will all be balls. Every slider will be in the dirt and every curve will be outside. Pitchers are trained to get the ball to start breaking 15 feet from the plate. Sure they could adapt, but it would take a year or so. If you are going to move the rubber back, move it 3" and see how that goes.
