Todd McShay's list

1. Marcus Mariota

2. Johnny Manziel

3. Aaron Murray

4. Zach Mettenberger

5. Braxton Miller

6. Bishop Sankey

7. Tajh Boyd

8. Mike Evans

9. Teddy Bridgewater

10. Derek Carr

Mostly quarterbacks, as expected. I think I pretty much agree with it, especially with Murray on the list.

Thoughts? Others that should be on there? Too high, too low?

I am not sure about Miller on that list after what Kenny Guiton did when Miller was out.

Boyd needs to be higher for sure. Sankey is good but not 6th most valuable good. I think Kevin Hogan is a better choice than him.

Yeah I like Boyd fourth probably. I was a little surprised by Sankey's spot, but he's been a workhorse on a much improved team.

Miller's seems to come a little of perception, but he has been good this year when healthy.

Ya, Boyd should be higher.

Sankey carried 40 times vs Zona.

Huskies have to have him to be a top 15 team.

Jared Abbredaris is about 20 times more valuable than anybody on this list. Take him off Wisconsin and everybody sends nine in the box every play, and we score 15 less PPG at least. Take Braxton off of OSU and nothing changes at all.

Yeah, but if you put Braxton on Wisconsin, I bet they'd of beaten Arizona State. Abbredaris wouldn't make Ohio State even more unbeaten.

I mean, if your test for MVP is which player would help Wisconsin be undefeated the most, the nation's top kicker/punter would be the #1 guy on the list. I think MVP asks "which player has been most valuable to their team in this world."

David Carr is extremely valuable to Fresno. What would Fresno State be like with a quarterback similar to the other quarterbacks in that conference?

Their defense has given up 51, 25 to Cal Poly, 40, and 37.

Sankey gets a lot of extra credit for last year I'm sure. They had no line all year and he still cranked out over 1500 yards and no one saw that coming. This year he has a decent line and is picking right up where he left off.

Last Saturday he carried the team single handedly over the first half in what can only be called a total monsoon. Arizona knew the run was coming and couldn't stop him.

I don't know if I'd put him up toward the top of the nation in a most valuable player, but he will be a huge part of their run through the conference this season.

Hogan? On a team that features the power I set so much I'm not sure that QB is any more valuable than a stud RB. I would agree if it were any other type of offense a QB was running.

Not sure why AJ isn't on the list. Have you seen our backup QB? It's not pretty. If AJ gets hurt, we are pretty much screwed. Especially since our running game has been hurting, and that's pretty much the only thing our backup QB can do.

Imagine for a second that Oregon loses and it's Ohio State and Bama for the NC.

You STILL feel comfortable with Guiton playing instead of Miller? I sure as heck don't. Guiton is probably the best backup QB in the nation and fits Meyer's system well. But Guiton also played some of the worse defenses since Meyer has been here and we have absolutely no idea how he would respond throughout an entire season.

Both Miller and Guiton are much better passers this year ... and I believe most people heavily underrate the improvement of our WRs this year. That is the REASON why they are having more success in the air IMHO. But make no mistake about it ... Miller's dynamic running ability makes Ohio State a much harder offense to defend.

I would add Blake Bell to that list. He has single handily saved Oklahoma's season.
