Who has one? I've been looking at them for a while now and I can't decide if I want one or not. I mean, they're only $150 but it seems like they're getting really popular and some of the upgrades for them are pretty cool -- like the arch angel stock. Seems like a pretty cool gun and a cheap one at that -- would be fun to plink with. Maybe change into some sort of target rifle with a few upgrades.

Can't decide.

I toyed around with the idea of getting one a while back but never went through with it. For the price I think it'd be worth having around. Like you said, it'd prolly make a good gun to fuck around with at the range en what not. Now that you mentioned, I may revisit the idea of picking one up myself.

Haha...I was just poking around with the idea after I saw a few stock upgrades you could put on it. Seems like it's a good gun to mess around with. I've been poking around with the idea of making a fun target rifle -- maybe to use in matches. And rather than just buy some expensive thing, I thought this would make a fun project. Kind of like how I built my AR. If you mess up, it's $150 gun.

Like this thing:
Advanced Technology (ATI) Mosin-Nagant Rifle Stock : Cabela's

I'm sure I could find it cheaper than Cabelas but it's got pretty good reviews and is really cheap/easy. It also looks pretty good:

There's also the Archangel stock for about twice as much but it makes it magazine fed which is awesome:

I'm tempted to buy one and have it re-chambered to take a 45/70 govt now that we are allowed to use old straight walled cartridges here in Ohio.

SURPLUS LONGGUNS (SLG) - Longguns - Southern Ohio Gun

The problem I'm having is finding a local place that sells mosins at a reasonable price. I might have to have my local gun shop order one for me. Cabelas has them for like $200 ($50 overpriced if you ask me).

Another one to consider is the Swiss Schmidt Rubin K31 strait pull bolt in 7.5x55 basically a .308 with a little more case capacity. I've got two both have shot 3 shot groups MOA at 100 yards with open sites on sand bags. I've shot military matches with them and beat a lot of guys with 03A3's M1A super matches and M1 garands.

When you break them down every thing inside is polished and jeweled. They also have one of the best military triggers IMO. Will cost you anywhere from 300 to 400 but well money spent.
