Another reason UFC is lame.

In boxing her opponent would pay her out of pocket 30-50% of what the purse would be.

Typically, if the other fighter is still within one weight class higher, the fight goes on as a catch-weight bout. I think if the fighter is more than one weight class up, fight commissions typically do not allow the fight to go on. If the fight was cancelled, or the other fighter pulled out, the fighter that was still ready to fight may get their full fight purse (or a portion of it), but I do not believe UFC policies or contracts guarantee payment under those circumstances. Dana might have paid her something. Either way, I am sure it is a major disappointment to go to all of that trouble of getting in shape and cutting weight to do absolutely nothing on fight night.
