When I ranked all the teams, I went position groups at a time, and didn't know who won till I tallied it up. These two teams tied at the top 31-31. Each team was a little stronger in certain areas, but they are very close across the board, lineup, rotation, bench and pen. I thought I would win because I like my rotation by the slightest amount, but I can't argue anyone voting Smitty, as I said, I had them dead even, he has a Hell of a team.

Smitty barely. Both teams are great but have to stay true to my rankings

These are my two favorite rotations. The Rocket is the only pitcher that I honestly believe edges Tom Seaver. And I think he was the only one drafted before him. Could be wrong. Randy Johnson might be the only lefty that edges Steve Carlton. Not sure. Then there are three other great matchups. Like I said, these are my two favorite rotations.

Also two of my favorite bullpens. When I step away from myself and don't allow my inner loathing of Joe Nathan to get in the way. He had a great career before I got to witness it unravel at the end. (Still unravelling)

But Im gonna vote for me. Not just for reasons I stated in UKs last matchup. Although, like i said last night, it affected my rankings and my voting. .418, .444, .403, .401. Those are the career OBPs of my 2-5 hitters. They all have over 300 home runs. 3 with more than 400. One with more than anyone. And not a single one is in the HOF. Hahaha. Ain't that a trip? (Two aren't even eligible yet.)

Of my nine starters, only two struck out more than they walked. This may not be as big of a deal to some as it is others, but I love that in a player. It's a trait we see less and less of in today's game. (Hack Wilson led the league in Ks 5 out of 6 years. Never struck out more than 94 times and still managed to walk more than K in two of those seasons.)

Anyways, Im voting Smitty.

I'm having a hard time with this one.... I had Smitty as my all around best team. I had the UK rotation #1 (and Smitty #2)... I had the benches 2 & 5 and the pens 3 & 4. I see clear winners in the first four games (UK 1&3 - Smitty 2&4)... Game five is tough to call.. Slightly better strike-out pticher vs slightly better ERA....

I'm going to have to dig deeper into the SABR handbook to pick a winner.... Need more time.

Oh shit........ SABR.......

Hahaha. (Lot of pressure of Leftys shoulders. If he hadnt died 25 years ago. Two time triple crown winner. Three time strikeout leader. Career cut short by injury.... Did you guys know teams used to have players teeth pulled in order to gain weight? Yankees did it with Gomez. Crazy if you ask me.)

I didn't dig too far.... The one stat that threw this over the top: Stolen bases at the top of the order.

1018 (83/62 games) -vs- 408 (26/62 games)

Smitty gets the trophy.
