Not a fucking chance in hell.

Also no chance in hell you win 10 games next year.

Missouri wasn't even a top70 team last year, and you couldn't even beat Texas in a bowl game.

But I've bookmarked this thread for future laughs.

"We didn't even beat Kentucky last year, only scored 16 pts against a Big12 defense in a bowl game, but top5 offense and 10 wins this year".

This is a more interesting idea. I wonder if the east will be bad this year . I doubt it, but it may turn out better than the West
It will be much better than last year but that might not be saying much.

Georgia is the favorite. Florida seems to usually get a bump whenever they fire a coach. South Carolina should be a bowl team. Mizzou does seem to be returning most of their important players. Kentucky should be in the mix.

I think there will be some good football there.

Well...Mizzo only averaged 22 ppg against the 4 SEC teams they played that had a winning record.

They did average 47 ppg against the 4 SEC teams that had losing records.

Now in OOC games they scored 72 on Missouri State, 68 on Idaho
and 52 on UCONN. All of those teams had losing records. The one
team you played with a winning record was Purdue and they beat
you 35-3. In the bowl game Texas beat you 33-16.

I see a horrible trend here. 18 ppg against the 6 teams that you played with winning records. I think you'll be safe planning to have New Year's Day dinner at the house.
No way they scored that many on ANY SEC team regardless of record. We all know that ALL SEC teams play great defense. Come on Nolie...get with the program man!

There are only so many Misery fans out there. There aren’t new ones being converted so an alt is more plausible than another Misery fan.
If they'll get shittier I'll include them in my favorites and kick out Kansas, Oregon State or Illinois. (Gotta keep my Miners regardless of whether they improve or not.)

I thought South Carolina was bringing back a decent chunk of the team. I was guessing one of Florida or Tennessee would surprise.

2ndly, I don't think the West is a killer this year. Bama is Bama. Auburn is Auburn, which means you never know what to expect. LSU looks like a staggering drunk ready to finally collapse and pass out. Ole Miss is a train wreck, Ark isn't far behind. A&M has issues. Not sure what to make of MSU and their new coach

Sorry. I had SC confused with Tennessee. The Gamecocks actually have 8 starters back on offense, and one or two of them could end up on the second unit due to a wealth of talent at wide receiver. They have 5 starters back on defense, which is where there strength supposedly lies.

Tennessee only has 4 starters back on offense. The defense has 6 starters back, but only one on the line & two in the secondary. The rest are linebackers. And this is a team that gave up over 250 yards a game on the ground last year.

I will say if this team wants to win 9 or 10 games in the near future it has to be this year. A lot of talent leaving and 2019 could be rough.

Well...I'm use to Florida and that hype machine.

The Gates are the only team in CFB that use turnstiles as defensive
players.

It would be shocking to me if they are even in the top25 at all. If they don't make the top50 - I'm not surprised. They were a bad team last year and their recruiting has been in the shitter(#43 the past 3 years weirdly, and #25 the year before that).

The second half of the season last year they played a weak schedule and didn't beat a single good team.

Wins:

FCS team
Idaho
UConn
Florida - Fired Coach
Tennessee - Fired Coach
Vandy(Only SEC win was Tenn)
Arkansas - Fired Coach

Missouri wishes it was Iowa, but it's not.

I'll get the last laugh when we win 9 or 10 games, but you will have conveniently have forgotten all about this by then.

Bump this thread on October 14.

Missouri is not winning 9 games or more in 2018.

I could see them in the top 25 if all goes well. But there's an intangible aspect with them that I just don't know if it is there.

I predict a top 10 offense with a chance at top 5 which is why I put a question mark on my post. Now the defense is stacked at DT and LB but the ends are awful and thin an the secondary is subpar. They will stop the run which is important in the SEC but teams will pass the hell out of them. I think they play a lot of games where both teams score 40 or 50. if they come out on the winning end they win. I think top 20 is reasonable. But speaking of just the offense they have an extremely high ceiling. Tell me where they have even a question mark on offense. The line is gigantic and experienced. they have an excellent tandem at RB. they may have the beat TE in the nation. The receivers are deep. You all know about Lock. Exactly how can you argue about the ceiling here?

And that year they finished 4th in the AP and set the Cotton Bowl rushing record and had a Heisman finalist and spent a precious week at #1.

But you have a good point. What really happened was Mizzou lost the game at Norman on a late fumble in an evenly played game. Then we lost the Big 12 Championship to a team that had a young Heisman winner just coming into his own. A season with no bad losses but 2 to a very good team. At least our 12-2 season didn't include losses to ISU or something.

Sorry about the triple post. I will be around all season and I am a CFB fanatic and I will post on other stuff but I do admit to being a Mizzou homer. I want to know how it works in December. I'm ready to eat crow if I'm wrong but I want the opportunity to say I told you so which is more likely. Just remember my post please.

Using the term more likely so loosely is fun.

Some numbers on Mizzou:

Missouri

Recruiting (that's 5*/4*/3*):
2015, 25th, 1/2/20
2016, 43rd, 0/2/18
2017, 43rd, 0/1/24
2018, 43rd, 0/0/25

Average Rank: 38.5

2017 Team Stat Rankings:
Points: 14th (37.5/game), Allowed: #93 (31.8)
TO Margin: -8, #111, (17 taken, 25 given)
Explosive Plays (20+ Yards): 82, #14
Opponent 3rd down conversion: 43.4%, #101

Their offense was good enough last year, to be sure. I think that explosive plays number was higher than Bama and UGA. Lock is the top QB in the division, coming in. Did have 25 turnovers.

The D was the problem, which wouldn't have been the case a few years ago. They had these swarming, fast defenses, very good pass rush. If they can right that ship quick, they'll be the most dangerous team in SECE.

But looking at those recruiting rankings doesn't inspire confidence in the talent level.

Mizzou develops players from redshirts to Juniors and Seniors in 4 years playing at a high level. I swear I saw a chart of the top schools at overachieving giving their recruiting rankings and Mizzou, Michigan State an TCU were tops. I really wish I could produce that.

Recruiting rankings mean something sometimes and sometimes they mean nothing. I think Mizzou and a few other school recruit smart and find those diamonds in the rough.

It's hard to win 10 games when there are at least 4 losses headed your way. Part of the reason for Mizzou's success last year was the play-calling of their offensive coordinator - who is now the head coach at UCF. Replacing him with Dufus Dooley will mean at least a 10-point per game drop off in scoring.

False

Heupel was far too gimmicky

Dooley will run a pro offense with this first round QB, one of the better OLs and TEs in the country, and two very good RBs
