Could the silence be any more indicative of what NFL teams think of him right now?

I thought he was a post June 1st cut.
Doesn't that mean he's really not available to sign with other teams?

I think he'll be in demand for the cheap 1 to 2 year deal. He has a resume.

Per the rules of the CBA each team has the option to designate two players per year in this manner. The catch here is that Austin’s current contract must stay completely active on the Cowboys’ books until June 2nd. This means his original $8,249,400 cap figure will remain on the Cowboys salary cap until this time.

he is free to sign with anyone right now

My thoughts on Austin are that if a team signed him to a one year deal, he would suddenly have an injury free year, put up 1000 yards plus, sign a new three year deal, and pull a hamstring as soon as the ink dried

By design? Or dumb luck?

A little of both. I don't think Austin fakes injuries, I just think like some athletes, he has a different sense of urgency about staying on the field when his next paycheck isn't guaranteed. There's a reason so many guys have a career year in their contract year.

Each time Lee or Murray gets injured and misses time the label grows, same with Romo each time he doesn't come through when needed at the end of a big game. Whether its fair or not is cetainly up for debate, but the labels won't disappear until the trends reverse. I have said many times I don't think Murray or Lee will necessarily get injured in any particular season just because they were injured in previous seasons, but so far I have been wrong every time. I'll still say again That I expect both to play 16 games this year, but I am less confident each time it comes up until they do it one time.

I'll say it again....labels put on players BY MOSTLY fans are funny. As if you guys know something earth shattering here. When you guys get finished, maybe you can debate #1 and #2 receivers.

Fans? I don't think it's just fans. IMO It's GMs that pass on players and everyone else around the game whether professionally or for joy. There is only one way to get rid of a "label" and that is to do the opposite. So if you are a guy like Lee or Murray you most certainly will hear it even more next year if you miss games again. If you play 16 games you will hear it less. I'm not sure there is much controversy in that and I bet if you asked Lee he'd agree.

let me know when you see another active player or coach refer to a player as injury prone.

Austin will be like most other Free Agents still left out there.

Teams will wait and see how the draft goes .......

He may get signed right after.....
But I doubt it ...... I think only way Austin finds his way on a team is in preseason after someone gets hurt

Age injuries and lack of production last year hurt his stock

But since I like Austin .... I hope he ends up in New England and has a healthy year

You know. I still really like Austin too. He really is a good guy. I'd like to see his career not end without ever having another good or at least serviceable year, but at the same time now that he is gone I don't really want to see another 2009 type season for another team either!!!

Austin was fun to watch in 2009. That guy made a lot of jaw dropping plays that year. I just wish they hadn't shuffled the o-line around for Minnesota.

I'll never understand benching a guy on a hot streak ..... even if its for the return of a starter
