You know at least I had no idea what TEX was doing trading with TBR for a PTBNL and then even though he had been out all of 2012 gave him a roster spot. Now in 78ABs for Round Rock he's got 5 2b, 2 3b, 2HR ... .295/.404/.487/.891.

And now with AJ going on the DL ... we are going to see him on the 25man. Now you got to wonder how TEX scouts keep doing this.

Now that Soto is getting regular ABs he's been hitting a bit better, hits in 3 straight games and batting .364 overall

If he's not going to play then no point in having a young catcher sitting on the pine

And there's no telling how Soto responds to regular ABs now, maybe he actually gets hot, he probably wouldn't be any worse than a young catcher up from AAA in the system anyway

'Young catcher' (Chirinos) up from RR ain't young. He's 28. 12 seasons in the minors and didn't play in 2012 due to a concussion in 2012 ST.

Maybe a real late bloomer like Cruz.

Once again, speaking generally, the idea of NOT having a young catcher at AAA was what was being discussed, and I was saying even IF we did have one, he probably shouldn't be expected to provide much more than Soto

Okay ... understand your point ... you were talking about a generic young catcher at AAA ... ostensibly Jose Feliz perhaps. But I see your point.

I still find it curious that a month ago TEX acquired Chirinos and gave him a roster spot previously occupied by a pitcher. Not saying either Whiteside or Feliz are guys that deserve a roster spot instead ... but was TEX clairvoyant?
