Honestly he didn't do shit at Arizona and I never really paid that much attention to him prior to his HC job at Arizona. Could someone give me a background on what hes actually accomplished other than share the last name of a success HC? What did he do at Oklahoma/K-State specifically...

Each year he was at Oklahoma I believe the Sooners had a top 10 defense statistically in basically every category.

The guy is a coordinator though, not a head coach.

I don't hate the idea of that at all, but I suspect Bo is now fully committed to becoming the CEO type HC. Whether that's good or bad idk.

I want to point out I've said I don't like Carl leaving because of continuity issues, but there wouldn't be much of an issue if we got Mike. Also Carl leaving could be just what this defense needs.

Carl didn't exactly hit it out of the park taking the reigns this year. Granted there were extenuating circumstances. Bo wasn't going to demote his brother back to line coach and take over the D again, which i'm guessing he wanted to if Carl was indeed the problem this year.

The way I see it, nothing but good can come of this.

One of the better D coordinators in a long long time......... Head coach- jury is still out on Bo....... He can turn the corner, but so far- eh. Mike- eh..

Am I missing something or I guess I just don't get it....

If I were one of the best Defensive Coordinators or Offensive Coordinators and got a Head Coaching job somewhere...wouldn't that make you want to specify your better assistants in the area you're not familiar with?

Example- Carl Pelini...We all know Bo was behind our Defense and used Carl somewhat as a puppet...couldn't he just hire a somewhat useful guy to replace him and do the same? I mean if I were Bo and knew I was one of the best if not the best defensive coordinator in college football WHY WOULD I LET SOMEONE RUN MY DEFENSE KNOWING I COULD DO BETTER.

This would not only save $ in the defensive category, but allow us to hire a fucking genius offensive coordinator...

You can't be the best defensive coordinators and be a head coach...... If bo was exclusively running the defense- he is the best their ever was..... But the demands of being a head coach in todays college football world make it impossible for Bo or anyother great coordinator to not only run a defense/offense, but be a head coach also......



I am saying this: Tom Osborne would not be the offensive coordinator if he was still coaching, even for a legend like Dr.Tom- there is just too much shit going on for a Head Coach to be the coordinator.......


The reason carl was mostly a co-coordinator the first few years- is because of the transition for both carl and bo- we likely would have been better off to hire a actual coordinator instead of making carl into one........

The way I look at it is we were a solid football team in 09 and 10 on the defense when Bo was babysitting Carl. Our struggles came with absolutely no offense because of Shawn Watson. If we had a great offensive coordinator, we are championship level just like that.

I just find it hard to believe that being a Head coach now is just too much work for Bo to go back to what he was doing with the Defense. By hiring a really good defensive coordinator in Mike Stoops, what do we gain? We could've already gained that just by Bo working more with the defense...I would just rather see an inventive guy on the offensive side of the staff to pick up the slack.
