OK, then just go with Harbaugh, Davis, Jimmy Johnson, Coughlin, Barry Switzer and Mariucci
Mariucci, Davis and Coughlin all had NFL experience.

OK, but never a HC.
You better quit while you're behind. Your comments here are being debunked by almost every poster here.

You asked for coaches hired to be head coaches from college. I gave you a number of them.

Agree Carrol does not count but the others do as they had no HC experience.

Tell me again how Hoyer is such a great guy to be your starter due to being a decent backup.

I'm done responding to your stupid posts. Now go back to the NBA threads and bother those guys.

We are talking NFL experience you dumbass.
whoa...so quick with the Yosemite sam-like namecalling tirade.

This was YOUR question -
"How many college coaches have had success in the NFL? Jimmy Johnson is the only one I can think of."

Every coach I mentioned qualified as they were college coaches. Though I'll give ya Carrol shouldn't as he was already an NFL HC.

To disagree would be arguing with yourself....isn't to say that's not something for which you are known to do.

My wife doesn't dictate anything regarding to football. I'm a Cowboys fan and she is a Packers fan but we both like Rodgers.

ya right. i bet you're not even allowed to wear your cowboys gear when she's home, you sneak and put on your Cowboys Starter jacket when she leaves the house, dontchya?

who had success coming from college?

Jimmy Johnson
Butch Davis
Mariucci
Switzer
Harbaugh

I'd even say Bobby Ross and Dennis Green could be included.

edit - and add Coughlin

Pettine is a decent defensive co-ordinator but limited as a HC.
Maybe....but with very limited talent he had the Browns at 7-4 with a backup as a starting QB until Manziel was forced on him to start.

Might want to put an asterisk on Switer though. but for arguments sake he has had success.
I could have coached the team Switzer had though lol

Fair point.....but sure haven't done much since he left. Though that is more on owner JJ.

Actually when you look at that list of college coaches and put aside NFL HC experience even, you really have to take Switzer off the list. He inherited what J.J. built. Marriucci walked into a loaded team too. Harbaugh went to a team that already had a championship caliber defense, a loaded Oline and a top RB and by the time he left, it was a dumpster fire. It took Coughlin a little while. And Johnson struggled at first until he got that roster built. The key is Jones let him build it. I really don't think most of those situations are all that similar to the Browns current one. Not saying a young college guy would definitely fail but you can't just throw out names either. It's apples and oranges, imo.
